Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief on the death of editor of the Sanskrit daily ‘Sudharma’, KV Sampath Kumar. In a condolence letter in Sanskrit, written to wife of Mr Kumar, K S Jailakshmi, Mr Modi said, KV Sampath Kumar’s life was dedicated to popularise Sanskrit specially among youngsters. He said, Mr Kumar’s passion and dedication towards Sanskrit is inspiring.
The Prime Minister said, continous publication of Sudharma by Mr Kumar and his immense love for Sanskrit is well known. Mr Modi said, his death is a big loss for the world of Sanskrit and also for the world of Journalism.
The 64 year editor of Sudharma, considered to be the country’s and the world’s only Sanskrit daily, passed away in Mysuru on Wednesday following a cardiac arrest.
He, along with his wife Vidushi K.S. Jayalakshmi, were awarded the Padma Shri in 2020 in recognition of their efforts to keep the publication alive against all odds.
