Former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala released from Tihar Jail

Former Haryana Chief Minister and president of  Indian National Lok Dal Om Prakash Chautala, was released from the Tihar jail today  after completing the required formalities. He was serving a 10-year prison term in a JBT teacher recruitment scam case.The 86-year-old Chautala was already out on parole.

Last month, the Delhi government had announced six-month special remission to those who have served nine-and-half years of their 10-year prison sentence to view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to officials, since Chautala has already served nine years and nine months of his sentence, he was eligible to get out of prison. Chautala was jailed in 2013 after he was sentenced to a 10-year jail term in a teachers recruitment scam.
