FM Nirmala Sitharaman says enhanced revenue collection in recent months should now be the new normal

On the fourth anniversary of the introduction of GST yesterday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that the nation has overcome two waves of Covid-19 pandemic and provided stability to this new tax regime The Minister said that the enhanced revenue collection in recent months should now be the new normal.

She expressed happiness over the buoyant tax collections which crossed one lakh crore rupees for eight months in a row with a record GST collection of 1.41 lakh crore rupees in the month of April this year.

Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur has said that continuous support and feedback provided by the industries has helped the Government in improving GST laws, procedures and systems over the last four years.
