The first session of the newly constituted West Bengal Assembly will begin today with Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar’s address. The state budget for 2021-22 is scheduled to be placed on 7th July.
The short session is likely to be eventful as dissension is going on between the state secretariat and the Raj Bhawan over the Governor’s customary inaugural speech.
The BJP legislative party is likely to raise issues like post-poll violence and fake vaccine camps which may lead to a stormy session. With 75 MLAs, BJP is the main opposition in the state assembly. Congress and the Left parties have no representation in the present House, though their alliance partner ISF has one MLA.
