Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has emphasised the need to educate people on the importance of COVID-19 vaccination and urged all stakeholders to work collectively to achieve the target of full vaccination before the end of this year.
Speaking at a book release function in Chennai today, the Vice President said that there was a need to dispel fears among the rural population so that the vaccination drive turns into a pan India movement. The Vice President stressed on the need for both the Centre and the States to work together in ‘Team India’ spirit to quicken the pace of the vaccination campaign. Mr.Naidu appreciated the sacrifice and unmatched dedication of the health workers during the Pandemic unmindful of the risks involved.
Praising their commitment to the profession, he said that nearly 1,500 members of the medical fraternity had lost their lives as they were honestly and undeterdly serving under the oath.
The Vice President, mentioning the theme for this year’s Doctor’s day -Save the Saviour, stressed the need to ensure safety and well being of our doctors who are rendering yeoman service during this unprecedented health emergency during COVID-19.
The Vice President made his remarks after receiving the book written by well known nephrologist Dr. George Abraham. The book entitled ‘My Patients, My God, My Journey of a Kidney Doctor’ chronicles the professional journey of Dr. Abraham as a doctor, educationist and researcher over the past four decades.
