Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has questioned the state leaders’ criticism of Centre over COVID vaccination drive and asked them to spend more energy in planning and not in creating panic over the vaccination drive. He also urged them to desist from playing politics even in the midst of a pandemic.
In a series of tweets, the Minister said, the Centre has provided 75 per cent of vaccines available for free to states due to which vaccination speed picked up and 11.50 crore doses were given in June. He said, states have already been informed in advance about COVID-19 vaccine supplies for the month of July and this information was shared with them 15 days prior, along with details about day-wise supply.
He added that 12 crore doses will be made available this month to states and the private hospital supply will be over and above this.
The Minister said, if there are issues in states, it shows that they need to plan their vaccination drives better. Dr Harsh Vardhan termed the political leaders’ statement over the vaccination drive as most unfortunate saying these leaders are aware of facts related to supply and are still making statements.
