Karnataka: Bengaluru urban district reports 563 new cases of Covid-19

In Karnataka, the pandemic situation is showing improvement in the Bengaluru urban district that reported 563 new Covid positive cases, 1588 recoveries and 18 deaths yesterday. There are 62,450 active cases at present in the district. There were 50,144 Covid tests conducted yesterday taking the total tests done till now to One Crore 46 lakh and 28 thousand.

The Positivity rate has come down from three percent in mid June to 1.27 percent now. The Case fatality rate has also come down from 7.89 percent at the beginning of this month to 2.21 percent yesterday.

AIR Correspondent reports that Bommanahalli, Mahadevapura and Bangalore East in the city are zones with high prevalence of Covid cases. Out of 38 micro containment zones in the city, 27 are in these three zones. Shanthala Nagar, Bellandur, Ramamurthy nagar, Horamavu, Varthuru, Begur, Hudi, Kadugodi and Arakere are municipal wards where the case load is highest.

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has raised a word of caution as the unlock process continues in the city. He said that the Delta variant of virus can spread fast and hence as we follow traffic rules, wear seat belt and helmet, we must not forget to wear mask and maintain social distance.
