Enforcement Directorate-ED has sought information from Kolkata and Bidhannagar Police Commissionerates of West Bengal regarding the fake vaccination camp. The special Investigation Team of Kolkata Police has been carrying out raids and held two more persons as the total number of arrested persons becomes six, including the mastermind Debanjan Deb, who had been impersonating an IAS officer and organized fake vaccination camps in Kolkata.
Sources said, transactions of over 2 crore have also been found in just one year in the bank account maintained by the accused.
Meanwhile, the state government has issued strict guidelines regarding the arrangement of private vaccination camps. It says, prior approval of the health department will be mandatory for arrangement or running of Covid Vaccination Centre-CVCs. They have to designate a nodal officer for communicating with the state government and must maintain a dynamic inventory of vaccines disclosing the source of their supplies and send reports to the department daily.
