Maharashtra Start Up week organized by Maharashtra state skill development and employment and enterprises department has got overwhelming response with as many as 1846 start ups have registered for the event. State skill development minister Nawab Malik said that, as many as 947 start ups from Maharashtra have sent their new ideas which is highest in the country. 27 states and Union Territories participated in the week. Malik further said that, 24 winners start ups will get work orders worth Rs. 15 lakh to be used by state government’s various departments.
Maharashtra government organizes every year this event and this is fourth edition in which applications were invited from start ups working for agriculture, education and skill, governance, health care, smart infrastructural facilities, clean energy, waste management, water management etc. The applications will be scrutinized and in the last week of July, a list of top 100 start ups will be declared. They will get opportunity to submit their presentations before investors, experts and government officials. The winners will be given work orders of contracts worth Rs. 15 lakhs.
In the district wise break up, a maximum of 322 applications are received from Pune while 212 from Mumbai and 70 from Mumbai suburban, 42 from Nagpur, 97 from Thane, 19 from Aurangabad start ups have registered. 320 applications have been received for health department while agriculture 252, education 238, governance 72, skills 94 , 176 about smart infrastructure and 110 about solid waste management have been received. Malik said that, through this event, innovative ideas of youths will be given a boost on large scale. The winners will get an opportunity to work in various government departments.
