Toys are one of the first tutors of a child. Toycathon-2021 is thus, not merely a toy-making contest. It has much more far-reaching implications and utility for India.
It is a celebration of India’s creativity and innovation. It aims to tap India’s one billion dollar toy market to combat the large-scale (80%) import of toys to India. Thus, employing the innovative prowess of 33 crore students, toy-makers, experts, start-ups to crowdsource creative and out-of-the-box ideas.
It promotes the vision and mission of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and supports our local craftsmen.

Toy-economy to help our local manufactures & take our traditional knowledge to a global stage: PM Modi
At present, the global toy market is worth about $100 billion & India’s share in this is only around one & a half-billion dollars. Thus, PM Modi stresses the need to actively change the scenario to make Indians and India, as a whole, aatmanirbhar.
India imports about 80% of its toys and the country’s crores of rupees get vested in it, despite having such a rich tradition of Indian toys & games. PM Modi thus urged everyone to go #VocalforLocal at the Toycathon-2021.
Today, the world wants to understand India’s present potential, art & culture, and the society of India in a better way. Our Toys and Gaming industry can play a big role in this, says PM Modi.
