Rajnath Singh visits Karwar Naval Base, reviews progress of infrastructure development under project Seabird

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accompanied by the Chief of Naval Staff- Admiral Karambir Singh has visited the Karwar Naval Base to review the progress of ongoing infrastructure development under project Seabird. The Minister undertook an aerial survey of the Project area and sites prior to arriving at INS Kadamba helipad.

The Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar and Flag Officer Commanding Karnataka Naval Area Real Admiral Mahesh Singh received the visiting dignitaries in Karwar today afternoon. Defence Minister received on-site briefings at the shiplift Tower and assessed marine works and other infrastructure projects at the Naval harbour as part of the phase IIA of Project Seabird.

Defence Minister also viewed the operationalization of Piers. He visited the newly constructed Sailors Married Accommodation. The Press release issued by the Western Command at Karwar says that the accommodation incorporates advanced features for water efficiency, household waste management, energy efficiency and other environment friendly features. Project Seabird Contractors, Engineers, officers, Sailors and Civilians at Karwar Naval Base also interacted with Defence Minister.
