Addressing the media, Dr. VK Paul, Member-Health, Niti Aayog said rural coverage of vaccines has been remarkably emphasized. A total of 63.7 percent of the total vaccine doses administered on 21st June were in villages and 36 percent in urban areas. Forty six percent of the people who received the vaccine in the present phase were women and 53 percent were men. Dr Paul said government has to work on this imbalance, and create awareness among women and bring them forward. He said more than half of the doses administered over the last few weeks were inoculated in rural areas, which makes it clear that rural outreach is possible.
