Karnataka State Government will provide tap water connection to 25 lakh rural households this year under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa informed this to media persons in Bengaluru today after reviewing the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission along with RDPR minister K S Eeshwarappa.
There are about 91.91 lakh rural households and over 28 lakh households have functional tap water connection in the state. The Chief Minister has directed officials to provide 25.17 lakh rural tap water connections in the current financial year. He said that the central government flagship programme has to be implemented within the given timeline. He added that a video conference will be held with the Chief Executive Officers of Zilla Panchayats to speed up the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission.
