WTC Final: New Zealand to resume at overnight score of 101 for two against India at Southampton

At stumps on Day Three in Southampton, New Zealand were in a strong position at 101 for two when bad light stopped play, replying to India’s first-innings’ score of 217. Captain Kane Williamson was batting on 12 while Ross Taylor was yet to open his account. Opener Devon Conway was, just moments before umpires called off play, got out for 54 when Mohammad Shami superbly caught him off Ishant Sharma.

Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed the other batsman, Tom Latham for 30, with captain Virat Kohli taking a good catch at short extra-cover. New Zealand are still 116 runs behind. Earlier resuming from 146 for three, India lost skipper Kohli at his overnight score of 44. Ajinkya Rahane ended up as the top scorer of the innings with 49 as India were all out soon after the lunch interval.

For New Zealand, fast bowler Kyle Jamieson captured his fifth five-wicket innings haul, giving away just 31 runs in his 22 overs.
