In Himachal Pradesh, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has decided to set up a grain based ethanol plant in Una district.
For setting up the unit the state government would provide about 70 acres of land and rail-fed POL terminal of higher capacity.
This plant would have a capacity to generate 125 KL ethanol per day.
Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said, these projects would be set up at a cost of 400 crore rupees and would provide direct and indirect employment to about 300 persons.
He said that major raw materials for producing ethanol like rice and maize would be procured from Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una districts of Himachal Pradesh besides Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar districts of neighbouring State Punjab.
