Football is beyond sports, it’s an emotion for the budding footballers who aim to represent their country, one day. And what’s better than to represent India on the world platform?
17 years old, Shubho Paul is an Indian sensation after his entry into the FC Bayern Munich’s World Squad (U-19). The 15 member squad was hand-picked from more than 1,200 applications received from across 64 countries by club legend and World Cup winner Klaus Augenthaler.
The Squad from around the world including Shubho will assemble in Mexico for a 13-day training. From there, the squad will fly to the Bavarian capital (Munich). The squad will train with the Bayern Munich U-19 team and will play matches against local teams, including the Bayern Munich U-19 side.
Shubho Paul- the Young prodigy
The winger is nurtured in the training academy Sudeva Delhi FC from where he played for the junior national sides. There Shubho won the SAFF U-15 Championship in 2019. He scored three goals in the championship. He further followed his stellar performance in the India AFC U-16 Championship Qualification campaign, where he netted two goals in three matches. Since becoming an AIFF-registered player, Shubho has scored 87 goals in 41 matches across all age groups.
Shubho Paul was picked through his video clips
Shubho’s initial selection was done based on videos, after seeing the videos, the German giants requested the full match footages. After the detailed analysis, 100 players from around the world were selected for the World Squad. Successively, the list was narrowed down to 64, to 35, and finally to 15, of which Shubho is a part.
Hero I-League has produced another new talent
Hero I-League is often called the factory of producing future stars for the country and The 2020-21 season of the Hero I-League has yet again proved it. Sudeva Delhi FC (the first club from the Capital city to play in the Hero I-League in the 2020-21 season) has nurtured the Shubho Paul and his stellar performances for his club have landed him into European football – the best in the world.
The 2020-21 Hero I-League was the maiden appearance for the Sudeva Delhi FC and their performance made everyone think about the young squats, and among them was the brilliance of Shubho Paul.
India at the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers
The Indian Football team is currently in Qatar for the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers. The Blue Tigers played their first match against the host Qatar, where they lost 0-1, despite a man down in the first 13 minutes. After that, the team bounces back against Bangladesh. Captain Sunil Chhetri’s stellar performance helped India to secure a 2-0 win.
India will play their final qualifying match against Afghanistan, where a draw or a win will secure a direct spot in the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers for India.
