Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 ended on the green side of the market on Friday. Buying interest was seen in PSU bank and select IT stocks. Selling pressure was witnessed in real estate, metal and select private bank names. Reliance was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 1.46 per cent. Bajaj Finance, ONGC, Infosys and Power Grid Corp were among the other top Sensex gainers, while Kotak Mahindra, HDFC, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto and NTPC were laggards.
Earlier in Asian Indices, South Korea’s Kospi increased by 0.09 per cent and Japan’s Nikkei 225 index surged by 0.74 per cent. China’s Shanghai Composite declined by 0.58 per cent.
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 0.15 and 0.08 per cent respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed above the 52,550 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 15,811 mark. The Sensex gained 76 points to trade at 52,551 and the Nifty50 rose by 12 points to trade at 15,811.
In the 50-share pack of Nifty50, Tata Motors was the biggest gainer, increased by 1.49 per cent. Reliance, Wipro, Divis Labs, Bajaj Finance, Infosys and ONGC were among other gainers.
On the other hand, Adani Ports was the worst performer in the pack, down by 8.35 per cent. Coal India, Kotak Mahindra, HDFC, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto and Hero Motocorp were the other worst performers in the pack.
Small-cap and Mid-cap Indices
The Nifty Midcap-100 index declined 0.48 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index fell 0.34 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, Future Retail gained 9.99 per cent, Rajesh Exports rose 9.36 per cent, Endurance Technology, Union Bank and Indiabulls Hsg also surged, while BHEL, Adani Total Gas and PNB Housing Finance declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, Mishra Dhatu Nigam gained 6.59 per cent. On the other hand, Vakrangee fell 5.10 per cent, Aegis Logistics, KEI Industries, Lemon Tree Hotels declined.
In NSE sectoral indices, 6 out of 17 sectors surged. Nifty PSU Bank was the top performer as it gained 0.58 per cent, Nifty Energy rose 0.51 per cent, followed by Nifty IT increased by 0.34 per cent. While Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal declined.
