The Assam government has declared Raimona and Dehing Patkai as national parks.
Talking to newspersons in Guwahati today, Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said that notification in this regard to be issued today.
The Dehing Patkai national park is located at Upper Assam while the Raimona is situated at Bodoland Territorial Region.
Mr. Suklabaidya said that , the total number of national parks in Assam have increased to seven now.
The Forest minister said that following the declaration of national parks, the conservation process will be boosted and tourism sector is also be benefited.
The Dehing Patkai is the home to 47 mammal and 310 butterfly species while Raimona has 29 mammals species among others.
