Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has appealed to people to cooperate with the Government in implementing 14 days lockdown that began today morning. In a tweet today, he has also asked legislators to ensure that the stringent measures taken by the government to break the chain of the pandemic are enforced in total in all the districts. The Lockdown norms came into effect today after the public were allowed to make purchases between 6.00 am and 10.00am.
AIR Correspondent reports, roads wore a deserted look after the imposition of the lockdown in the state. Police have cordoned off main roads and put up barricades on the side roads. Police inspection of people venturing out was seen on main junctions. People desiring to go for vaccination have to show the SMS message on the allocation of the slot in a hospital.
Others going on emergency work or official work were made to show their documents or Ids. Those not giving valid reasons for venturing out were warned or made to take an oath that they will not come out. Some also had to endure push ups as punishment. Housing minister V Somanna and Bengaluru Central Member of Parliament P C Mohan held a meeting with BBMP officials today to discuss the ways to mitigate the pandemic in Bengaluru.
