Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin yesterday. The Chief Minister appealed to him on the immediate need of 500 metric tonnes of oxygen. The Prime Minister assured that steps will be taken in this regard and suggested to enforce stricter measures to enforce lockdown.
Mr Modi advised Mr Stalin to ensure that patients with mild symptoms be home quarantined to which the latter agreed. AIR correspondent reports, Tamilnadu has registered more than 27 thousand fresh covid cases for the first time yesterday. Death toll has also increased to more than 240. More than one lakh 39 thousand people are taking treatment for the pandemic.
Over 23 thousand patients have been discharged after treatment. Chennai has registered over 6800 cases. Chengalpet and Coimbatore have recorded more than 2000 cases. Madurai and Tiruvallur has registered over thousand cases.
