J&K: Muslims help perform last rites of Kashmiri Pandit in Pulwama

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, when several Volunteers and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are relentlessly reaching out to the needy and destitute in order to provide them assistance in terms of food and medical supplies etc, Kashmiri Muslims in Pulwama district have also set an example of communal harmony and brotherhood by helping a Kashmiri Pandit family in cremating their member, during the prevailing unprecedented difficult times following the outbreak of contagious coronavirus pandemic.

AIR correspondent reports, when Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc and devastation all around and has put everyone to doldrums, an example of communal harmony and brotherhood in Kashmir could be seen once again when the Kashmiri Muslims helped in performing the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit, Makhan Lal Tikoo at village Tahab in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The news of his death spread like wildfire in the village drawing scores of Muslim community members to his home.

It is worthwhile to mention that many Muslim youth of the village made arrangements in performing the last rites of the deceased as per the Hindu rituals and even ferried firewood for helping the family to cremate the deceased.
