Indian Army inducts the first batch of women in the Military Police

The Indian Army on Saturday inducted its first batch of 83 women soldiers as part of its military police. The Corps of Military Police Centre & School (CMP C &S) held the attestation parade of the first batch of 83 women soldiers at the Dronacharya Parade Ground, Bengaluru as a low key event while observing all COVID protocols.

The Commandement of the CMP Centre & School reviewed the parade and complimented the newly attested women soldiers for their exemplary drill while also congratulating them for their successful completion of the intense 61 weeks of training.

This included Basic Military and Provost training to incorporate all forms of policing duties and management of prisoners of war, ceremonial duties and skill development containing driving and maintenance of all vehicles and signal communications.

The Commandement of the CMP Centre & School also extolled the virtues of dedication to duty, righteousness and selfless service to the nation. He pronounced confidence that the inculcated standards and training imparted to the First Batch of Women in Military Police would hold them in good stead and help them prove to be a force multiplier at their new units, located across varied terrain and operational conditions across the country.

The Government in January 2019 approved the induction of women in the military police, while for the future it plans to have 1700 women soldiers by 2036, in batches of 100 recruits per year.
