Ladakh: COVID-19 decreasing due to restrictions, UT maintains 90% recovery rate

In Ladakh, the number of new cases of COVID-19 has been coming down due to restrictions imposed to curb the spread of the virus. The Union Territory has been maintaining 90 percent recovery rate. AIR Leh correspondent reports that Leh and Kargil have imposed additional restrictions in the districts to contain the spread of corona virus.

With 1185 active positive cases Leh district falling in Health Ministry’s guidelines to impose additional restrictions while Kargil with 215 cases began night curfew since Friday. Leh district is in Eighty hours of Corona lockdown till Monday morning 5 AM. While Kargil district imposed restrictions on gatherings, along with night curfew. In the last 24 hours, 114 new infections were recorded while with 90 percent of recovery rate in UT, as many as 145 patients are cured and discharged.

Leh also reported a death during the same period, which took UT death toll to 152 since pandemic broke out in the region. Ladakh is strictly following the intensive testing and tracing to contain the spread. Nearly results of 2000 samples are awaited. With restrictions in force, the administration is yielding results  in breaking the chain. Meanwhile, Leh’s SNM hospital began 24 X7 Tele Medicine to COVID patients who are placed in home isolation.
