Govt extends timelines of certain compliances by taxpayers in view of pandemic

The government has extended the timelines of certain compliances by taxpayers in view of the pandemic. Finance Ministry said, an appeal to Commissioner (Appeals) under the Income Tax Act, for which the last date of filing was 1st of last month, has been extended to 31st of this month.

Similarly, the deadline for objections to the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) was extended from 1st of last month till 31st of this month. Income-tax returns in response to notice can be filed within the time allowed under that notice or by 31st of this month. In addition to it, filing of belated return and revised return for Assessment Year 2020-21, which was required to be filed on or before 31st March, may be filed on or before 31st of this month.

Payment of tax deducted and filing of challan-cum-statement for such tax deducted, which are required to be paid and furnished by 30th of last month may be paid and furnished on or before the end of this month
