Andhra Pradesh Governor appeals to people to take all precautions to curb further spread of coronavirus

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan has appealed to the people to take all the precautions to curb the further spread of the corona virus. In his address to the people of Andhra Pradesh telecast over Doordarshan regional channel this morning he said the outbreak of coronavirus disease had posed an unprecedented challenge before the entire world.

He said the public health situation across the world and the country was witnessing the most critical situation. The Governor said that to deal with such an enormous challenge, it is essential to behave responsibly by adopting the health protocol, to strictly follow the Covid-appropriate behavior and take all necessary precautions as advised to curb the further spread of the corona virus.

Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan urged the people not to be complacent about the danger of contracting the Covid-19 virus.  He said  it is high time for everyone to always remain and take necessary precautions to protect each individual, their family members and the society around them. He added that this is not the time for any laxity in behaviour.

The Governor said the country today is witnessing a new high in the number of Covid cases on a daily basis with new strains of virus circulating, which appear to be more contagious. He said the present pandemic situation is putting an enormous pressure on the medical resources and health infrastructure and the government is putting all efforts for optimum utilization of the resources for the maximum benefit of the people.

The Governor called upon the civil society organisations, Red Cross volunteers, voluntary organizations  to create awareness among people on the steps to be taken to contain the pandemic from spreading further. Governor  Harichandan appealed to people to immediately seek help from 104 Call Centre is case  any mild symptoms of COVID virus infection  are detected and to avail the advice of expert doctors available at the call centre round the clock. He said fatalities can be reduced if mild symptoms are followed up by testing and treatment without any delay.

The Governor recalled the five fold strategy laid out by Prime Minister  Narendra Modi of testing, tracing, treatment, Covid-appropriate behavior and vaccination as the only weapon to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said people’s negligence by not adhering to COVID appropriate behavior and following COVID protocols appears to be the contributing factor behind vast number of cases being reported all over the country during the second wave. He said it is a matter of grave concern and there is an urgent need to prevent further spread of the virus with the active cooperation of everyone in the society.

The Governor said wearing mask is an important measure to suppress transmission of the virus and save lives as masks can prevent further transmission of the virus. He said home isolation is the best option if people have any Covid-related symptom such as fever, cough and difficulty in breathing etc. He said the people  should seek immediate medical advise by dialing the 104 call centre.

Governor Sri Harichandan said the fight against Covid-19 can be successful only with the active cooperation of every member of the society. He appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh to strictly follow the COVID-appropriate behavior and take all necessary precautions to curb further spread of the corona virus.
