259 people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Sikkim

259 people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Sikkim on Saturday. A total of 1174 cases have been recorded this week. With this, the total number of affected people so far has reached 8031 in the state. Out of them, 6,236 people have recovered while the total number of active cases is 1,647. Our Gangtok correspondent reports that one infected person died today taking the COVID death toll to 148 in the state.

Of the new 259 COVID19 infections, East Sikkim district reported 195, taking total cases to 6241. South Sikkim reported 32 new cases with a total of 1211 cases while West Sikkim reported 22 new cases with a total of 462 cases. North Sikkim recorded 10 new cases, taking the district tally to 117 cases. New 41 recoveries were also recorded in the state in the last 24 hours.
