#USIndiaDosti: A thread of friendship between the two nations

A C-5M Super Galaxy, one of the largest strategic aircraft of the US, arrived with the first shipment of emergency relief material to India, to help combat the second wave of COVID-19. The aircraft landed in India early morning of April 30, carrying over 400 oxygen cylinders, 9,60,000 rapid diagnostic tests, 1,00,000 N95 masks and other essential medical equipment.

On this, the US Embassy India tweeted, “The first of several emergency COVID-19 relief shipments from the United States has arrived in India! Building on over 70 years of cooperation, the United States stands with India as we fight the COVID-19 pandemic together. #USIndiaDosti.”

The point that is highlighted in this tweet remains the hashtag “USIndiaDosti”, which simply translates to the friendship between the two countries.

Developed into a ‘Global Strategic Partnership’, India-U.S. bilateral relations solidified at an unprecedented scale in recent years. The hashtag ‘USIndiaDosti’ has been frequently used since 2018. Official and verified handles on Twitter like US Embassy India, US Ambassador, US Consulate, U.S. The U.S – India Business Council twitter handle used this hashtag to showcase the bilateral cooperation and friendly relations of the two countries on multiple occasions.

“Congratulations to DrSJaishankar on your appointment as Minister of External Affairs MEAIndia. You have been a key architect of the U.S.-India strategic partnership, and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship! #USIndiaDosti”, read a tweet from 2019 on US Consulate Mumbai.

Another tweet from U.S Embassy India read,” A big welcome to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. It’s great to have you and your team in India. We look forward to excellent meetings to advance the U.S.-India strategic partnership. #USIndiaDosti.”

#NamasteTrump, #HowdyModi: Hashtags that topped the charts

During the historic visit of then U.S. President Donald Trump to India, the hashtag #NamasteTrump topped the charts of the trending list. A mega event was organised at the Motera Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad which highlighted strong India-US relations. #Namaste Trump became the Indian counterpart of #HowdyModi, a rally held in Houstan, Texas in 2019, the largest-ever gathering with a foreign political leader in the United States.

The U.S. took steps to further elevate the partnership between the two countries by diversifying global supply chains, and assisting in vaccine development amid a global pandemic.
