All arms of the government are working unitedly and rapidly to deal with the situation said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while chairing a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers to discuss the situation arising out of the second wave of COVID-19 in the country.
The meeting delineated the government of India’s ‘Team India’ approach which is based on the collective efforts of the Centre, State Governments and people of India to combat the viral infection.
Interacting with the council of ministers, PM Narendra Modi said,” all arms of the government are working unitedly and rapidly to deal with the situation. I also urge the ministers to stay in touch with people of their respective regions, help them and keep getting their feedback.”
PM Modi also stressed upon the need to ensure that issues at the local level are promptly identified and addressed.
Further, the council reviewed all the initiatives and efforts made by the central, state governments and the people of India. The council was also briefed about the efforts of the union government along with the states towards ramping up infrastructure in the form of oxygen facilities, hospital beds, production, storage and delivery of medical oxygen.
Additionally, the support initiatives for the vulnerable population in the form of provision of food grains and financial support to Jan Dhan account holders were also discussed.
The Council of Ministers also asserted the imperativeness of Covid appropriate behaviour and noted that India could successfully manufacture two more COVID-19 vaccines and there are many candidates at various stages of approval and induction.
Reiterating the participation of society as a major aspect to accomplish the gigantic task ahead, the council expressed confidence that the country will rise to the occasion and defeat the virus.
