Key contest is seen between senior politicians and film fraternity in the sixth phase of election in West Bengal. The Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice-President Mukul Roy who is fighting the upcoming West Bengal elections from Krishnanagar Uttar in the Nadia district is pitted against popular actor Kaushani Mukherjee from TMC.
The popular film director Raj Chakraborty has been fielded by TMC from Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district. TMC is trying to use the mass popularity of the director to win this seat that is known to be a fortress of former TMC leader and now BJP MP Arjun Singh. Key contest is also seen between minister Jyotipriya Mallick of TMC from Habra assembly constituency. For the third consecutive time he has opted to contest from here. In 2016 he had defeated Ashis Kantha Mukherjee of CPIM with a margin of 45,947 votes. In the present election to be held on April 22, he is pitted against Rahul Sinha of BJP and Riji Nandan Biswas of CPIM.
Another minister in the present Cabinet Chandrima Bhattacharya is contesting from Dum Dum(North). She is pitted against sitting MLA Tanmoy Bhattacharya of CPIM and Dr. Archana Majumdar of BJP.
