Remdesivir not a life-saving drug in Covid-19: Health Ministry

Union Health Ministry has said that Remdesivir is not a life-saving drug in COVID-19 and it is to be administered only in the hospital settings.

In a tweet, the Ministry said that its unnecessary and irrational use is unethical. Remdesivir is an experimental investigational drug granted Emergency authorisation use and studies do not demonstrate mortality reduction with this drug.

The Ministry said that Remdesivir is to be administered only in the hospital settings and it is advised for people who are moderately sick and receiving oxygen.
