Bihar records highest ever single day Coronavirus cases with 7,870 new infections

Bihar recorded its highest number of single-day cases with Seven thousand 870 more people testing positive and 51 dying of the virus in the past 24 hours. The last 50 thousand cases have been added in just 17 days. Maximum one thousand 898 cases reported from Patna yesterday. Army recruitment rally which was scheduled to begin at Danapur, Katihar, Muzaffarpur and Ranchi from April 25  has been postponed in view of corona pandemic.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the state government will take the final call today whether to impose lockdown or excercise other options to contain the fast spread of Covid -19 which has touched even the rural areas of the state. Mr Kumar said the crisis management group will assess the suggestions and then decide on the steps to be taken by the government.

Active cases in the state have gone upto 39 thousand 497 and they are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Two lakh 74 thousand 207 people have so far been recovered from infection in the state so far. Recovery rate is sharply decreasing and it is now at  86.93 percent.

Meanwhile one lakh 20 thousand 603  people took vaccine yesterday. Over 57 lakh 83 thousand people have so far been vaccinated in the state.
