94.56 lakh ration card holders take benefit of inter-district portability in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, 94.56 lakh ration card holders have taken benefit of inter-district portability of their ration cards to purchase food grain.

According to an official press statement, Maharashtra began the implementation of One Nation One Ration Card in 2018 as Integrated Management of Public Distribution System (IM-PDS). Accordingly, in a month, 7 lakh inter-district ration cardholders ported their ration cards to procure their quota of ration.

It said, tribals and sugarcane workers and other migrating labourers can purchase food grain as permissible at subsidised price. In August 2019, in the form of two clusters four states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana began implementation of of One Nation One Ration Card on pilot basis.
