Private medical colleges in Puducherry partner with health dept. to control surge in Covid cases

In the Union Territory of Puducherry as a major initiative to control the surge in covid cases and to manage the situation all the private medical colleges in Puducherry are partnering with the health department.

AIR Correspondent reports that high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Health Director in which key administrators from private medical colleges and officials of the health department attended.

In the meeting it was decided that each private medical colleges should dedicate 300 beds ( i.e ) 200 oxygen beds, 90 normal bed and 10 ICU beds.

As an outcome of the meeting, the private medical colleges should give care to the covid patients referred from the government institutions.

Nodal officers from both Government side and the Private hospitals have to co-ordinate for these admissions.

Nodal officers at the private medical colleges have to ensure smooth transfer of cases from Indira Gandhi Government Medical Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Government Women and Child Hospital, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute and other primary Health centres.

Apart from that it was further decided that all private medical colleges have to do 100 RTPCR tests for samples sent from the government.

The consumables for these will be given by the government to the private medical colleges.

Meanwhile the total tally of the covid vaccination crossed 1 lakh in the UT on Tuesday.

So far 1,06,982 persons were administered covid vaccination ,which includes 28, 959 healthcare workers 16, 644 front line workers and 61, 379 general public.
