Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari visited Chaityabhoomi and paid floral tributes to mark Dr. B R Ambedkar’s 130th birth anniversary today. The Tri-Sharan Buddha Vandana was recited on the occasion.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale, Maharashtra’s Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil and Mumbai’s Guardian Minister Aslam Sheikh were also present to pay their tributes.
Describing Dr. Ambedkar as a man of extraordinary flair, economist and scholar who created a sense of confidence among the most oppressed sections of society, Mr. Koshyari urged people to read books and biographies of Dr. Ambedkar and strive to build an India of his dreams.
The Governor also released the book ‘Kalachya Palikadche Mahamanav’, which is a compilation of articles on the life and work of Dr. Ambedkar penned by various eminent persons and guest edited by Member of Parliament Rahul Shewale.
