Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal calls for an all party meeting on 16th April

In view of the steep rise in COVID-19 cases and the order of the High Court of Calcutta, the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal has called for an all party meeting on 16th April.

One representative each of the recognised political parties will be attending the meeting. District Magistrates and Police Commissioners and SPs have also been asked to ensure maintaining strict COVID guidelines during election period.

It may be noted that the High Court has asked the state administration to ensure that COVID protocol is strictly adhered to and to take action against persons who fail neglect or refuse to obey the covid protocol. It also ordered wearing of masks and following safe distancing norms mandatory at all gatherings and fixed the responsibility on the DMs and the CEO.

The Left Front has already declared to minimise their campaigns and decided not to hold big rallies for the next three phases of election in the state.
