Meanwhile, campaigning is in full swing for the fifth phase of assembly elections in West Bengal along with by-polls in different states.
Top leaders of various political parties are criss-crossing the poll-bound constituencies in West Bengal.
While the BJP targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of corruption and appeasement politics, the Trinamool hit back on the BJP-led central government over recent hike in prices of gas, petrol and diesel.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that BJP is working on the doctrine of Sab Ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas in West Bengal. Addressing a rally in Nadia district in West Bengal, Mr Modi said that on the basis of the ideology of Pandit Shyama Prasad Mukherejee the BJP will bring a new and peaceful political environment and eradicate all corruption and infiltration in West Bengal. He assured that the offenders of the Sheetalkuchi incident will be brought to justice. Mr Modi also addressed an election rally, at Kawakhali in Siliguri this afternoon. Speaking at the rally, the Prime Minister appealed to people for ‘Asol Parivartan’ and ‘Sonar Bangla’.
On the other hand Trinamool Congress leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held 3 rallies today in different parts of North 24 parganas district.
45 assembly constituencies will go to polls in the fifth Phase in West Bengal on 17th of this month.
The campaigning is also going on for By-Elections to two Lok Sabha seats including Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and Belgaum in Karnataka along with 14 Assembly Constituencies in eleven states where polling will be also be held on 17th April.
The seats where by-polls will be held include three in Rajasthan, two in Karnataka and one each in Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
