Govt takes initiatives to strengthen Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy in J&K: Atal Dulloo

In Jammu and Kashmir, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today said, the government is taking several initiatives to strengthen the Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy in the Union Territory. AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that the Financial Commissioner made these remarks while speaking on the occasion of Dhanwantri Jayanti being celebrated by Directorate of ISM and Homeopathy, which also marked 5th National Ayurveda Day. The theme of this year’s Ayurveda Day was ‘Role of Ayurveda in the management of COVID-19. Mr Dulloo said that the Ayurvedic System of medicines has been quite effective in the management of COVID-19 and the drugs have been in high demand in boosting the immunity. He said, the Ayurvedic system focuses on preventive and promotion of health and has long term benefits with no side effects adding that the chronic ailments are best handled by the system. Regarding strengthening of Ayurvedic system of medicines in the Union Territory, he said that policy of Government of India is to set up 50 bedded Ayurvedic Hospitals at the district level in a phased manner and under Ayush Care Policy, the government will provide incentives to private investors to come and set up Ayurvedic hospitals and colleges in J&K. He said that 2900 Health and Wellness Centres will come up in the UT by December 2022 which will strengthen the Ayurvedic system while at the same time increase employment opportunities.
