The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi in his monthly Radio broadcast program, “Mann-Ki-Baat” drew the attention towards India’s contribution to the world of sports.
In its latest edition broadcast today, the Mr. Modi stated that many indigenous sports have attracted attention the world over akin to spirituality, Yoga, and Ayurveda.
He highlighted that the sport Mallakhambh has gained in popularity in countries as diverse as Germany, Poland and Malaysia. Mallakhambh, literally meaning “wrestling pole” is a traditional sport of India which involves spectacular displays of acrobatics and strength around a vertical stationary pole or a rope.
He said that Mallakhambh training centers are running at many locations across USA and a large number of American Youth are taking to the sport.
Mr Modi said the Mallakhambh World Championship has also been started which sees participants from around the world.
The Prime Minister of India in his Mann-Ki-Baat address today stressed upon the significance of Khadi – the traditional, hand-spun cotton cloth – as popularized by Mahatma Gandhi, for a sustainable future.
He said the whole world is becoming fan of Indian products. He said the Khadi is now getting recognized as an eco friendly fabric.
The Prime Minister said there is a place in Mexico called Oaxaca, where the local villagers weave Khadi. It has gained popularity around the world as Oaxaca Khadi. Similarly Khadi masks have also become very popular during Coronavirus.
In Pakistan, opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has blasted the Imran Khan-led government for its failure to remove Pakistan from the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
The PPP alleged that the FATF decision was the result of a lackadaisical law drafting and lack of homework on the part of the government.
The FATF announced on Friday that Pakistan would continue to remain on its grey list for another four months till February 2021 for six out of 27 unmet action plan targets.
Wavel Ramkalawan, President of Seychelles has won the Presidential and Assembly elections. The electoral commission chairman Danny Lucas declared Ramkalawan as the winner with 54.9% of the valid votes cast on Sunday.Elections were held in Seychelles, over three days begining Thursday this week.
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has congratulated the people of Seychelles for the conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, this is a victory of democracy, a common value that binds India and Seychelles. The Prime Minister said, we look forward to a strengthening of the close and traditional relationship between India and Seychelles under the leadership of Mr. Ramkalawan.
The Bangladesh government has decided that no service will be provided to people who don’t wear mask. The cabinet meeting Chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided that no one will be allowed to enter offices without the mask. It decided that all offices must install notice boards saying ‘no mask, no service’ in order to control the spread of COVID 19 virus in the country.
Involving community leaders in the campaign to wear mask, the Cabinet Secretary said that the government has also talked to the Islamic scholars and religious leaders to publicise this at all mosques through the Imams.
In US, with the presidential election entering its final week, President Donald Trump is gearing up for a series of rallies across key battleground states. Meanwhile Democrat Joe Biden is sticking to his socially-distanced drive-in events.
Donald Trump has already cast his vote. He voted at a library in West Palm Beach, Florida Yesterday morning. Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen also voted early in Indianapolis on Friday. According to media report, some 57 million votes have already been cast.
The Grand Challenges is a family of initiatives fostering innovation to solve key global health and development problems. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is one of the partners of the Grand Challenges and it’s co-founder Bill gates spoke to India’s Public Broadcaster DD News on the promises it holds in fighting the pandemic of India today and the future.
Mr. Gates also lauded the role played by India in the global effort to end the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Now, lets take a look at the Coronavirus s. According to WHO data, the number of infected cases has crossed 42.51 million worldwide.
Malaysia’s king Al Sultan-Abdullah on Sunday rejected a proposal by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for a state of emergency to be imposed because of the coronavirus crisis.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced a new state of emergency on Sunday in an effort to curb soaring coronavirus infections.

In China, Durga Pooja was celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety at the Indian Embassy in Beijing. Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri addressed a gathering which was attended by top diplomats from Bangladesh and Nepal. He said, Durga Pooja reminds us of our shared heritage in the Indian subcontinent.
The central message of this festival, the victory of good over evil is timeless and ever relevant, he added. Ambassadors of Bangladesh and Nepal in China also shared their festival greetings through a recorded message.
