Govt take many steps for empowerment of farmers & development of agriculture in country

In the run up to 74th Independence Day, we bring you a special story today about Agriculture and Farmer Welfare.

Agriculture, which contributes 14 per cent to the GDP and employs 55 per cent of the population has been given top priority by the Government.

Agriculture and Farmers are in focus of Narendra Modi Government since it took over in 2014.

In the last six years, the Government has taken many steps for empowerment of farmers and development of agriculture in the country.

The government aims to double the income of farmers by 2022 and with initiatives like Pradhan Mantri-KISAN Samman Nidhi PM-KISAN, E-NAM, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana farmers are getting benefits.

Starting from production to marketing, government is emphasising on every point.

The Agriculture Budget which was around 25 to 30 thousand crore rupees before 2014, increased to one lakh 50 thousand crore rupees.

75 thousand crore rupees are being sent to Farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer under PM KISAN.
