Three striking Air India pilots resumed duty.Pilots strike entered the 9th day on Wednesday.

The government today said India has become the largest importer of arms, surpassing the Chinese share of five per cent of global arms imports during 2007-11.In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Defence Minister A K Antony said as per a report published in March 2012 by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), India has become the largest importer of arms during 2007-11 and accounted for 10 per cent of global arms import as compared to Chinese share of five per cent.

The government has started a school-based screening programme on pilot basis to screen children for diabetes in six districts in the country.The programme is going on at Nainital in Uttarakhand, Theni in Tamil Nadu, Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, Dibrugarh in Assam, Bhilwara in Rajasthan and Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh.

Former Lt Gen Tejinder Singh on Wednesday moved the Delhi High Court afresh, seeking its direction to the Centre to give him a copy of its reply, which said the Defence Ministry had no role in issuing the press release that accused him of offering bribe to the Army chief. The Delhi High Court today reserved its order on a plea by a section of Air India pilots against a single-judge order which restrained them from continuing their illegal strike by reporting sick and staging demonstrations.A two judge bench is likely to pronounce its order on Thursday on the plea by Indian Pilots Guild (IPG).

The Delhi High Court has asked its registrar to take police assistance for bringing veteran Congress leader ND Tiwari to Delhi for taking his blood sample to decide the paternity suit of a man claiming to be his son.Justice Reva Khetrapal today fixed the matter for further hearing on Monday before the Joint Registrar, who in turn will fix the date for collection of the blood sample from Mr Tiwari.
