Punjab Election Commission has provided a single window solution for all the basic needs of state based voters. The state is going to poll on April 30th.
This first of its kind application in the country will help in downloading details right from knowing the constituency, candidate, getting voting slip and finding the polling booth.
Only thing the proud voter has to do is to enter his/her EPIC card number on the entry screen. If the voter has forgotten the EPIC number, he can still get the details after searching his card through 'Search EPIC' facility.
This information techonolgy supported tool named - 'iVOTE' can be downloaded from Google Play Store on an android based mobile free of cost. Punjab based voter can use this link --- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ekansh.ecbooth --- for easy access to the application.
Brain child of enterprising young IAS couple, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhatinda, Sonali Giri and Municipal Commissioner, Bathinda, Vipul Ujjwal, the app has got the approval of the Election Commission of India. It can be used at National level after its success as pilot project in Punjab.
ADC Sonali says that the app will also help in finding details about affidavits filed by contesting candidates, Model Code of Conduct, filing complaint against any violation and counting trends. It would also send daily reminders to electors regarding polling day.
Punjab's Chief Election Commissioner V.K. Singh while formally launching the MobileApp said that this application has been developed under the SVEEP programme. It will encourage the electors especially the young and first time voters to come forward to vote.
Sonali says that it could be easily run on a 2G mobile internet connection. She said that experts are working on making it compatible for ios, java and windows softwares.<>
