Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India must become self-reliant and use its vast natural resources to produce for the domestic as well as global market. Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of India's 74th Independence Day, Mr Modi said in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, 130 crore Indians have pledged to build an 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'. He expressed confidence that India will realise this dream.


कोरोना वैश्विक महामारी के बीच 130 करोड़ भारतीयों ने संकल् लिया। संकल् आत्मनिर्भर बनने का और आत्मनिर्भर भारत आज हर हिन्दुस्तान के मन मष्तिक में तो छाया हुआ है।  आत्मनिर्भर भारत ये सपना संकल् में परिवर्तित देख रहे है। आत्मनिर्भर भारत ये एक प्रकार से शब् नहीं ये आज 130 करोड़ देशवासियों के लिए मंत्र बन गया है।


The Prime Minister said the country received record foreign direct investments during the last fiscal and the FDI growth was recorded at 18 per cent. He said even during the coronavirus pandemic, big global companies are looking towards India. 


The Prime Minister said India is dealing effectively with both terrorism and expansionism. He said those who challenged India's sovereignty, be it at the LOC or the  LAC, have been given a befitting reply in their own language. He asserted that India became a challenge to forces of expansionism with its freedom struggle.

वोकल फॉर लोकल, हमारे जो स्थानीय उत्पाद है उसका हमें गौरवगान करना चाहिए। हम अपनी चीजों का गौरवगान नहीं करेंगे तो उसका अच्छा बनने का अवसर भी नहीं मिलेगा, उसकी  हिम्मत नहीं बढ़ेगी। आईये हम मिलकर के संकल् ले आजादी के 75 साल के पर्व की और जब कदम रख रहे हैं तब वोकल फॉर लोकल का जीवन मंत्र मिल जाये और हम मिलकर के भारत के स्टार्टअप को हम बढ़ावा दे दें।


He said the nation has to move forward with the mantra of Make for the World along with Make-in-India. He further said 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' does not only mean reducing dependence on imports, but also strengthening India's capacity, creativity and skills.


Addressing the nation for the seventh time in a row from the Red Fort, he said there are numerous challenges in becoming self-reliant, but there are millions of solutions as well. He said India has always believed that the entire world is one family and while India focuses on economic growth and development, humanity must retain a central role in this process. Citing an example of what India can do, Mr Modi said before the COVID-19 pandemic, the country was not making N-95 masks, PPE's and ventilators, but now it is in a position to export such items.


The Prime Minister emphasized the need to give a new direction to the overall infrastructure development of the country to move India towards modernity at a fast pace. He said the National Infrastructure Pipeline Project will enable this and the country is moving towards spending more than 100 lakh crore rupees on this. He said about 7,000 projects of different sectors have been identified to bring a new revolution in infrastructure. He stressed on the need to remove silos saying the entire country has to move towards multi-modal connectivity infrastructure.


The Prime Minister said AatmaNirbhar Krishi and AatmaNirbhar Kisan are priorities of an AatmaNirbhar India. He said Agriculture Infrastructure Fund of  one lakh crore rupees has been created recently to give modern infrastructure to the farmers of the country. Mr Modi said the Jal Jeevan Mission was announced from the Red Fort last year and now, more than one lakh houses are getting water connection every day.


The Prime Minister said education has great importance in building a self-reliant India. Keeping this in mind, Mr Modi said, a new National Education Policy was brought. He said Digital India too has a great role to play in making the nation self reliant. Mr Modi said before 2014, only 5 dozen panchayats in the country were connected with optical fiber. In the last five years, 1.5 lakh gram panchayats in the country have been connected with optical fiber.


He said  Lakshadweep will also be connected to submarine optical fiber cable.


गत 5 वर्ष में डेढ़ लाख ग्राम पंचायतों तक optical fibre network पहुंच गया, जो एक लाख पंचायतें बाकी हैं, वहां भी तेजी से काम चल रहा है। हमने तय किया है कि सभी छह लाख से ज्यादा जो हमारे गांव हैं, उन सभी गांवों में optical fibre network पहुंचाया जाए। जरूरत बदली है तो हमने priority भी बदली है। हमने तय किया है कि 1000 दिन के अंदर-अंदर देश के छह लाख से अधिक गांवों में optical fibre network काम पूरा कर दिया जाएगा।


He said NCC is being expanded in border areas and special training will be provided to about one lakh new NCC cadets.


आने  वाले दिनों में एनसीसी का विस्तार उन बॉर्डर डिस्ट्रिक के नौजवानों के लिए किया जाएगा। बॉर्डर एरिया के केडर्स को हम करीब-करीब एक लाख नये एनसीसी के केडेट तैयार करेंगे और उसमें एक तिहाई हमारी बेटियां हो,ये भी प्रयास रहेगा।


Prime Minister Modi stressed that women empowerment has a huge role to play in AatmaNirbhar Bharat. He informed that of the 40 crore Jan Dhan accounts opened in the country, about 22 crore accounts belong to women. He said in April, May and June this year, about 30 thousand crore rupees have been directly transferred to the accounts of women.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of National Digital Health Mission from today. He said National Digital Health Mission will bring a new revolution in India's health sector and all Indians will get health IDs. He said every test, every disease, medicines prescribed by doctors, reports and related information will be contained in this one health ID.


Mr Modi informed that three corona vaccines are in various stages of trial in India and large-scale production will begin once scientists give their nod.

Mr Modi said the government fulfilled the longstanding demand of people by making Ladakh a Union Territory last year.  He said Ladakh is moving forward today to touch new heights of development. He said just as Sikkim has made its mark as an organic state, efforts are being made to make Ladakh a carbon neutral region.


The Prime Minister also said that a special campaign with a holistic approach is also being worked out to reduce pollution in 100 selected cities of the country. He said India is fully committed to the preservation and promotion of its biodiversity.

Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad lauded Prime Minister for his announcement to connect every village in the country with optical fibre network in coming one thousand days. He said that this mission will be a game changer for Digital India. He assured that the target of connecting all the villages through optical fibre will be achieved within the time frame.

Union Minister of Youth and Sports Kiren Rijiju today  launched a nation-wide initiative of Fit India Youth Clubs to promote fitness among every citizen on the occasion of Independence Day.


The Fit India Youth Club which is a part of the Fit India Movement envisioned by Prime Minister, endeavours to harness the power of youth to create mass awareness about the importance of fitness. This initiative brings together fitness and voluntarism in a unique way.


Under this initiative, 75 lakh volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and National Service Scheme, along with Scouts and Guides, National Cadet Corps and other youth organizations will come together to register as Fit India Youth Clubs in every block in the country, under the aegis of a district unit. Each member of the club will motivate people from the community to take up fitness activities of 30 to 60 minutes in his or her daily routine.


Speaking about the initiative, Youth and Sports Minister  Kiren Rijiju said, only a fit citizen can contribute adequately to his or her country and help fellow citizens in their times of need. He said, India is a country of 1.3 billion people, and there are 75 lakh youth volunteers already and this number will further go up to one  crore very soon. He said, these one crore volunteers can motivate at least 30 crore Indians in every nook and corner of the country to take up fitness activities regularly.


The Ministry said that one of the first initiatives that will be taken up by the Fit India Youth Clubs is to popularise the Fit India Freedom Run, which began today and will continue till the 2nd October this year. The Ministry said, it is a unique concept that allows participants to run at their pace and at their place and plan their own running routes. The run has already gathered momentum across the country.

Former Indian Cricket Team Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from International Cricket today. In a social media post, he thanked everyone for their immense support and love throughout his career. 


Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World Twenty-Twenty, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. A right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper, Dhoni is one of the highest run scorers in One Day Internationals with a formidable score of more than 10 thousand runs.

The country registered highest number of recoveries from COVID-19 in a single day. Over 57 thousand people in the country got cured and returned to their homes in the last 24 hours. With this the cumulative recoveries from COVID-19 in the country inched further closer to touch the two million mark. So far, a total of 18 lakh 8 thousand 936 people have recovered in the country and with this the nationwide recovery rate has further improved to 71.61 per cent. 32 States and Union Territories have exceeded the 50 per cent recovery mark whereas 12 States and UTs have recorded a Recovery Rate higher than the national average of 71.61 per cent. The case fatality rate continues to show steady decline and now stands at 1.94 per cent.

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,  the Lieutenant Governor hoisted the tricolor in Srinagar today. In his address he said that Jammu and Kashmir has always  been an integral part of the existence of India. He stressed on five points which are Equality & Justice, Panchayati Raj, Everyone's Welfare, Rapid Development & Economic Development and Employment.


Union territory Ladakh has celebrated 74th Independence Day today. As an young Union Territory, this is first Independence Day celebration for the Union territory.


At historic polo grounds in Leh, the Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur hoisted the National flag to begin the 74th independence day today. In his address LG RK Mathur informed the Ladakh that the Union Home ministry is preparing a Domicile act for Ladakh to ensure the security of Jobs and Land rights.In his address RK Mathur assured all round development of Ladakh. With the unprecedented non-lapsable funds of over 50 thousand crore, Ladakh will have long lasting infrastructure. The 74th Independence Day is being celebrated across Assam with high spirit and enthusiasm.  COVID-19 guidelines are strictly followed while celebrating the day. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal hoisted the national flag at Judges' Field in Guwahati. On this occasion,  Chief Minister announced a slew of measures for the benefit of the farmers.


In Sikkim, state-level 74th Independence Day celebration was held at Manan Kendra near Gangtok today. Chief Minister P. S. Tamang hoisted the national flag and received the guard of honour.


Sikkim Chief Minister P. S.Tamang announced several welfare and development schemes at the Independence Day celebration today. He credited the State Health Department’s efficient response for limiting the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. He informed that the government plans to operationalize the state’s second Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory for COVID-19 tests soon. Chief Minister Tamang informed that Mobile Village Clinic will be introduced for all villages by next year to take healthcare to citizens’ doorstep. He  also announced the Skilled Youth Start-up Scheme aimed at generating equitable entrepreneurial opportunity in rural and urban areas. In Tripura, 74th Independence Day is being celebrated with the unfurling of National Flag at government offices and district headquarter offices. The state-level main function was organized at the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala.


In Nagaland, 74th Independence Day functioned was organised at Secretariate Plaza in Kohima today. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio hoisted the national flag and took the salute from the parade.


Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hoisted the tri colour at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Addressing on this occasion Mr.Kumar said the state government has intensified Corona test to contain pandemic. Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to provide  assistance to flood hit people.


West Bengal joined rest of the nation in celebrating the Independence Day today in a befitting manner. The main Programme was held at Barrackpur Gandhi Ghat where State Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar paid floral tributes at the martyrs column. The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hoisted National Tri colour at a programme at Red Road in Kolkata this morning and took guard of honour.


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hoisted national flag at  main gate of the state assembly today on the occasion of Independence day. In his speech he paid tribute to the corona warriors and also remembered the freedom fighters and Heroes of the nation who laid their lives during the freedom movement.


In Uttarakhand, the Independence Day was celebrated with pomp and gaiety. The main ceremony was held at Police Line in Dehradun where Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat hoisted the national flag.


In Himachal Pradesh, 74th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety today maintaining social distancing throughout the state in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.


In Punjab, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said, Punjab would always be at the forefront of fighting the enemy at the borders. Chief Minister was addressing after hoisting the national flag at Mohali on Independence Day.


In Haryana Independence Day  is being celebrated taking all precautions in view of covid-19. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal hoisted the national flag at Panchkula and paid tribute to the Martyrs at Shaheed Smarak. In his independence day address, Haryana CM recalled the Galwan valley incident and paid. tributes to the martyrs.


Independence Day also celebrated in Madhya Pradesh. On the occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan hoisted the tricolor and took the salute of the parade at the state-level Independence Day function held at Motilal Nehru Stadium in the capital Bhopal.  


In Chhattisgarh, 74th Independence Day is being celebrated with fervor and patriotic spirit. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel hoisted the tri-colour at the main function held at the state capital Raipur, while, cabinet ministers and parliamentary secretaries hoist the national flag at the district headquarters


In Maharashtra, the 74th Independence Day is being celebrated with patriotic fervor. Official function held at Mantralaya in Mumbai were Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray hoisted the tri-colour in the presence of senior officials of the government and police.


Gujarat is also celebrating 74th Independence Day with full fervor and patriotism. Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat hoisted the national tricolor at Rajbhavan in Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also hoisted the tricolor at Swarnim Park in Gandhinagar this morning. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that due to Coronavirus pandemic, the main functions have been organized in the state capital instead of different district headquarters.


In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy hoisted the National Flag at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada today. On the occasion he said that the State Government is trying to bring change in the lives of the poor and  implementing all welfare schemes.


In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy hoisted the national flag on the ramparts of Fort St. George in Chennai this morning. He lauded the contribution of the frontline warriors in the ongoing fight against the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.


Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy in his Independence Day special address said his government is taking efforts for passing a bill for the sub-quota of 7.5 per cent of the MBBS seats in the state for government school students. He said an amicable resolution of water sharing issues with neighbouring Kerala on the Parambikulam-Aliyar and Pandiyar-Punnampuzha irrigation schemes would soon be reached, as there are improvements in the talks. He honoured doctors, nurses, lab technicians, police personnel, civic body staff and revenue and disaster relief officials with awards and citations for their stellar roles in Covid-19 preventive and clinical management works. In Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has vowed to build a ‘Kalyana Rajya’, a welfare state with the avowed principle of development as the only Mantra. In his Independence Day speech at aspecial function in Bengaluru today, the Chief Minister said that giant strides are taken towards realizing Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of building the nation.


In his Independence Day speech Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa informed that the government has come to the rescue of farmers in distress by buying 3175 crore rupees worth of farm products such as green gram, tur dal, groundnut, chickpea and copra under the minimum support price programme from 5.82 lakh farmers. Under Ayushman Bharat scheme health cards are distributed to 1.31 crore people in the state and offered health coverage to 8.5 lakh beneficiaries. Meanwhile in Bengaluru the pandemic has not dampened the celebrations. Flags fluttered over vehicles and buildings, people gathered in street corners to unfurl the national flag and distribute sweets. The National Capital Delhi will have generally cloudy sky with light rain. It will have a minimum temperature of around 27 degrees Celsius and maximum of around 34 degrees.


Mumbai will experience generally cloudy sky with heavy rain. The minimum temperature will be 26 degrees Celsius and the maximum will be around 30 degrees.


Chennai will have partly cloudy sky. The temperature will hover between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius.


Kolkata will witness partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The minimum temperature in the metropolis will be around 27 degrees celsius while the maximum will be 33 degrees.


On to the North, in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature will be 26 degrees Celsius in Jammu while the maximum will be around 34 degrees. The city will have partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm or dust-storm.


In Srinagar, the minimum temperature will be around 20 degrees while the maximum will be 35 degrees. The city will have mainly clear sky.


Ladakh will have mainly clear sky becoming partly cloudy towards evening or night. The temperature will hover between 19 and 32 degrees Celsius.


In Gilgit, the temperature will hover between 20 and 40 degrees Celsius. It will experience mainly clear sky.


In Muzzafarabad, there will be partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm or dust-storm. The temperature will hover between 22 and 37 degrees Celsius.


In Dehradun, the temperature will hover between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. The city will have generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers.
