The Third Phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana was launched today in 600 districts across the country. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, this phase will focus on new-age and COVID-related skills. Skill development minister Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey interacted with various students of the skill development centres. Skill India Mission-PMKVY 3.0 envisages training of eight lakh candidates over a scheme period of 2020-2021 with an outlay of 949 crore rupees. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launhed skill India programme in 2015 and it has gained tremendous momentum through launch of its flagship scheme PMKVY to unlock the vision of making India the Skill Capital of the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination program tomorrow morning through video conferencing. This pan India rollout of COVID-19 vaccination drive will cover the entire length and breadth of the country. A total of three thousand six session sites across all States and Union Territories will be virtually connected during the launch. Around 100 beneficiaries will be vaccinated at each session site on the inaugural day. This vaccination programme is based on the principles of priority groups to be vaccinated and Health Care workers, both in government and private sectors including ICDS workers, will receive the vaccine during this phase. Lets now go live to our correspondent Anand Chaturvedi who took stock of the vaccination programme scheduled to commence tomorrow at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in the National Capital.


Anand, what are the special arrangements made at the hospital with regard to the first day of the largest vaccination drive in the world?

Valsa, nationwide nearly 2360 master trainers, 61 thousand programme managers and 2 lakh vaccinators have been deployed to carry out the first phase vaccination. Web Cameras have also been installed in several hospitals for centralised monitoring of the vaccination drive. In Delhi, the vaccination is to begin at 81 centres which would further be increased to around 175. All the centres including Ram Manohar Lohia have made three chambers for efficient vaccination at their site. The first chamber will have people who will check the credentials of the beneficiaries from the COWIN application. Any existing diseases or issues will also be ascertained. The second chamber will be the vaccination chamber whereas the third chamber is the observation chamber. Beneficiaries will be observed for 30 minutes after the vaccination for any allergic reactions. The observation chamber has all facilities and medical equipments to address any kind of emerging situaion after vaccination.


Anand, How many people will be vaccinated on the first day in the Hospital and total how many health care professionals have been registered for vaccination in the first phase?

Valsa, on the first day, nearly 150 people will be administered vaccine at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in the National Capital. The hospital authorities have confirmed that in the first phase of vaccination only the health care professionals will be administered the vaccine. Nearly 7 thousand healthcare professionals including safai karmacharis and anganwadi workers have registered themselves who will be administered vaccine at this centre during the first phase. Valsa, just to apprise you that, nationwide 3 crore healthcare workers at nearly 3000 centres will be administered the COVID-19 vaccine.


Anand tell us, How are the transportation and storage standards of the vaccine being ensured in the National Capital?

Valsa, the vaccines will reach in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in the later part of the day today. The Hospital authorities have informed that adequate storage facilities are already in place to store the vaccines. All the states and union territories have kept the vaccines in the designated cold storages to ensure their proper transportation. The vaccination programme is also using Co-WIN, an online digital platform developed by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which will facilitate real time information of vaccine stocks, storage temperature and individualized tracking of beneficiaries for COVID-19 vaccine. A dedicated 24x7 call centre, 1075 has also been established for addressing the queries related to COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine rollout and the Co-WIN software.

Tripura is all set to start the COVID-19 vaccination tomorrow at a total of 15 immunization centers. Director of Tripura National Health Mission (NHM), Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal informed the media that the state has received 56,500 doses of the Covidshield vaccine. Dr. Jaiswal said in the first phase around 45,420 health care workers would be vaccinated followed by the frontline workers, including the police, armed forces, municipal workers in the second phase.

In Bihar, all arrangements are in place for Covid-19 vaccination programme which starts tomorrow. Health Minister Mangal Pandey said the state government has made all necessary preparations for smooth conduct of vaccination exercise across the state. Mr Pandey said, vials have reached all 38 districts of the state. Web casting of the vaccination process will be undertaken at 50 centres in different parts of the state. The Health Minister said, two doses of same vaccine will be administered after a gap of 28 days. Dr Manish Mandal ,Superintendent of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences ( IGIMS) ,Patna said vaccination will be undertaken as per international standards and appealed to people not to pay heed to rumours.

Officials of the state health department of West Bengal are fully prepared for the first phase of covid 19 vaccination, which begins tomorrow. Twenty thousand and seven hundred health workers will be immunized from two hundred and seven vaccination centres across the districts. Around hundred persons will be given the first dose of Covishield in each centre. The director of state health services Dr. Ajay Chakravarty has said that in Kolkata, 18 centres have been set up  for the drive.

Odisha targets to give covid-19 vaccine shots to about one lakh 92 thousand health care workers during the first phase of the nation-wide vaccination programme, beginning tomorrow. The state has already received 4.08 lakh Covishield and 20 thousand Covaxin doses for the first phase of vaccination of the prioritised beneficiaries. The vaccination drive will be held in 160 session sites across the state, soon after the country-wide launch of the drive by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More from our Bhubaneswar correspondent:


Addressing a webinar organised jointly by the Press Information Bureau and the Regional Outreach Bureau, Bhubaneswar a short while ago, Dr. B. K. Panigrahi, Director, Family Welfare, Govt of Odisha disclosed that all the 160 session sites have been duly provisioned with at least three rooms each for vaccination, waiting, and observation. He also informed that each of the sites will  have doctors and AEFI kits to take care of any adverse event, should they occur post-vaccination. While the state aims to immunise about 16 thousand health care workers on day one, the rest of the registered health care workers are targetted to be vaccinated against the virus in about 10 days. In the Union Territory of Puducherry, the first phase of Covid 19 vaccination will start tomorrow morning. A report from our Puducherry Correspondent:


Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Dr.Kiran Bedi had a review meeting with the Health department officials through video conferencing regarding the preparedness of the vaccination programme. The programme will start at 9 am tomorrow. In the first phase the vaccination will be given to health workers. In a press release given by Raj Nivas it is informed that 19,000 health workers in Puducherry, 1600 in Karaikal, 897 in Mahe and 323 health workers in Yanam region will be vaccinated. Vaccine will be administered in 4 centres in Puducherry and each one centre in the other 3 regions of the UT. The Health Director Dr. Mohan Kumar said that Puducherry region received 1750 bottles of vaccine and each botgle contains 10 dozes. Chandra Mohan,AIR NEWS, Puducherry.

In Tamilnadu, all arrangements are in place for administering the Covid vacccine tomorrow. Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy will inaugurate the vaccination at Madurai. In the first phase vaccination will be administered to all the frontline workers in Government and private hospitals and defence personnel who have registered themselves through Cowin app. We have a report from our Chennai Correspondent:


Covaxin and Covishield are two different vaccines which are permitted and are available. The Vice Chancellor of Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R.University Dr. Sudha Seshaiyan has said that vaccines have been tested successfully and are safe.

Both the vaccines have more than 70 percent efficacy and the vaccine is to be administered in two phases. Between them there should be a gap of 28 days or four weeks. All preparations for the first phase of CORONA vaccination have been completed in Rajasthan. The vaccination work will be done at 167 session sites across the state. Project Director -RCH said that vaccines have been sent to district headquarters and now will be sent to session sites. More from our Jaipur correspondent -


More than 4 lakh 87 thousand health workers will be vaccinated in the first phase. 100 vaccines will be given per day at a vaccination site. Total of 5 thousand 600 vaccination teams have been constituted and more than 28 thousand members of these teams have been trained for vaccination. Orientation training and workshops have been organised for more than 1 lakh 66 thousand people, which include health workers, PRI members, administration and police personnel and Aanganwadi and Asha workers. The Government has said that two doses of Vaccine, 28 days apart, need to be taken by an individual to complete the Vaccination schedule. The Health Ministry has come out with a series of frequently asked questions about COVID-19 vaccine on various aspects. Talking to AIR, the Professor at GB Pant hospital Doctor Sanjay Panday said that protective levels of antibodies are generally developed two weeks after receiving the 2nd dose of Covid 19 Vaccine.

India continues to leap ahead in its fight against COVID-19 with over one crore one lakh 62 thousand recoveries so far. With this, the national recovery rate has further improved to 96.53 per cent. The number of daily infection also continues to remain below 20 thousand with only 15 thousand 590 cases being reported in the past 24 hours. During the same period nearly 16 thousand people have recovered from the pandemic. The gap between the recovered patients and active cases in the country has further widened and the number of recovered patients stands at nearly 48 times the number of current active cases. The active caseload in the country comprises of nearly two lakh 13 thousand people and stands at 2.02 per cent. Out of these nearly 60 per cent are under home isolation and have mild to very mild symptoms.

Telangana state reported 202 fresh COVID cases during the past 24 hours. With this, the number of COVID cases reported in the state has reached over 2 lakh 91 thousand. The recovery rate has also improved to 97.93 per cent with 253 more people recovering yesterday. This took the number of recovered people so far in the state to over 2 lakh 85 thousand. A total of 1574 deaths have been reported so far, following two more people succumbing during the past 24 hours.

The ninth round of talks between Government and farmer unions is underway in the National Capital today. Speaking to media before the talks, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar welcomed the Supreme Court decision to set up a committee to hear the grievances of the farmers. He said, meanwhile the government is also continuing talks with the farmer unions to listen to their issues. Mr. Tomar said, the government is holding talks with farmers' leaders with an open mind and hope for positive discussions. Supreme Court on Tuesday had stayed the implementation of three farm laws till further orders. It had also announced the formation of a committee to hear the grievances of the farmers and the opinion of the government.

Army Day is  being celebrated today to mark the taking over as commander-in-chief of the Indian Army by the then Lt Gen K M Carriappa in 1949 from General Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the valiant men and women of the Indian Army on the occasion. In a tweet, Mr Kovind said, the nation remembers the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also saluted the Indian Army on behalf of all countrymen. Army Chief Gen M M Naravane today  assured the nation  that sacrifice of bravehearts of Galwan would not go in vain. Speaking at the Army Day celebrations, at New Delhi, General Naravane said a befitting reply was given to the conspirators, who tried to unilaterally change the status quo on Northern borders. He said, more than 600 terrorists had surrendered last year and more than 200 were neutralised in Jammu and Kashmir. The General said, no one should dare to try our Army’s patience. He informed that the number of ceasefire violations went up by 44 per cent last year, which shows the nefarious designs of Pakistan.

The 51st Edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) gets underway in Panji, Goa  tommorrow. The festival will show case best of the movies from across the globe during 16th January to 24th January 2021. Tamilnadu celebrates Thiruvalluvar Day today in honour of the Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar. Valluvar's epic work Thirukkural which consisists of 1330 kurals or couplets is translated into many international and Indian languages. Russian Writer Leo Tolstoy was greatly inspired by Thirukkural and so was Mahatma Gandhi. Thiruvalluvar day is celebrated on the 2nd day of the Thai month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today bowed to the venerable Saint Thiruvalluvar on Thiruvalluvar Day. In a tweet Mr Modi said, Valluvar's thoughts and works reflect the immense knowledge as well as the wisdom he was blessed with. Gujarat government will set up an international level sports museum in Jamnagar. This was announced by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani while dedicating a mid-day meal kitchen at Jamnagar. More from our Ahmedabad correspondent.

Beginning his speech by listing out various initiatives implemented by the state government to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, Finance Minister said the budget would be a vision document of the development and priorities in the post-Covid Kerala.The Budget made many populist  measures.  Various welfare pensions were hiked. In a relief for farmers, the floor price of rubber was raised to Rs 170 while the procurement price of paddy and coconut was also increased. State government’s free food kit distribution will be continued and additional ration allotment was also declared in the budget. Mr Issac  said that the first phase of the ambitious KFON project will be announced next month. KFON ,the Kerala Fiber Optic Network project aims at making internet accessible to everyone .The Budget announcements assume significance this time as the Assembly polls are just months away.
