Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new- Mantra-"Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz"  He has urged the people to apply this principle in letter an spirit to stay fit and healthy. He was interacting with the fitness experts and influencers virtually on the First Anniversary of Fit India Movement.


"फिटनेस की डोज आधा घंटा रोज इस मंत्र में सभी का स्वास्थ्, सभी का सुख छिपा हुआ है। फिर चाहे वो योग हो या बेडमिंटन हो, टेनिस हो या फुटबॉल हो, जो भी आपको पंसद आए कम से कम तीस मिनट रोज कीजिए।"


The nation-wide online Fit India Dialogue was organized to celebrate the First Anniversary of the Fit India Movement. The online interaction saw participants sharing anecdotes and tips of their own fitness journey while drawing out guidance from the Prime Minister on his thoughts about fitness and good health. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also launched Fit India Age-Appropriate Fitness Protocols. Mr Modi held interactions with cricketer Virat Kohli, actor Milind Soman, footballer Afshan Ashiq among others who shared their fitness experiences with him.


On the occasion, the Prime Minister wished all the countrymen good health and said that in one year, the Fit India Movement has  become the movement of people.


"आज का ये discussion हर आयु वर्ग के लिए और भिन्-भिन् रुचि रखने वालों के लिए भी बहुत ही उपयोगी होगा। Fit India Movement की first anniversary पर मैं सभी देशवासियों के अच्छे स्वास्थ् की कामना करता हूं। एक साल के भीतर-भीतर ये फिटनेस मूवमेंट, Movement of people भी बन चुका है और Movement of positivity बन चुका है। देश में हैल् और फिटनेस को लेकर निरतंर अवेयरनेस में बढ़ोतरी होती चली जा रही है और एक्टिवनेस भी बढ़ी है।"


The Prime Minister said, today many countries of the world have set many goals regarding fitness and are working on them at many fronts. Many countries like Australia, Germany, UK, USA are running fitness campaign on a large scale. Mr Modi said, usually, parents teach us all good habits but for fitness, the trend has reversed a little and youngsters are taking the lead in helping their parents get a fit lifestyle. The Prime Minister said, Yoga, posture, exercise, walking, running, healthy diet and swimming activites are now becoming pthe art of our nature conscious. He said, the Fit India Movement has demonstrated its influence and relevance during COVID- 19 period.


"फिट इंडिया मूवमेंट ने अपना एक साल एक ऐसे समय में पूरा किया है जिसमें करीब-करीब छह महीने अनेक प्रकार के रिस्ट्रिक्शन के बीच हमें गुजारा करना पड़ा है। लेकिन फिट इंडिया मूवमेंट ने अपने प्रभाव और प्रासंगिकता को इस कोरोना काल में सिद्ध करके दिखाया है। वाकई फिट रहना उतना मुश्किल काम नहीं है जितना कुछ लोगों को लगता है। थोड़े से नियम से और थोड़े से परिश्रम से आप हमेशा स्वस् रह सकते हैं।"


During the interaction, the Prime Minister hailed Afshan Ashiq, a woman footballer from Jammu & Kashmir, as an inspiration for girls across the country.


In her interaction, Afshan said that she is grateful for this platform and feel proud to be representing Jammu & Kashmir.


Speaking with Prime Minister Modi, India cricket team captain Virat Kohli shared his fitness mantra.


Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju said, while launching the Fit India Movement last year, the Prime Minister had emphasized that it should become the movement of people. Now Fit India Movement is truly becoming people's movement and in the past one year many programmes were organized which have taken the fitness to a new heights.

President Ram Nath Kovind today conferred the National Service Scheme Awards for the year 2018-19 through virtual mode. The NSS Award for the year 2018-19 was prsented to 42 awardees in three different categories like University, NSS Units and their Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju attended the ceremony from Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.


Speaking at the occasion, the President said that the National Service Scheme aims at' education through service.


"सेवा के द्वारा युवा स्वयं सेवकों के चरित्र का निर्माण तथा व्यक्तित् का विकास होता है। स्वैच्छिक सामुदायिक सेवा राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना का महत्वपूर्ण अंग है। इस योजना का आदर्श वाक् है-नॉट मी, बट यू। इसका भाव है-अपने हित की जगह दूसरे के हित पर ध्यान देना। राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना का प्रतीक है-अशोक चक्र, जो स्वयं सेवकों को 24 घंटे सेवा के लिए तत्पर रहने की प्रेरणा देता है।"


Mr Kovind said that it is a matter of happiness that about 40 lakh young students of many technical institutes, colleges and universities are serving the society and the nation by joining the National Service Scheme. He said, so far nealry four crore volunteeers have contributed through this scheme. The President said, in the fight against the global epidemic COVID-19, the NSS volunteers have created awareness about social-distancing and use of masks. Speaking on  COVID-19 President said:-


"कोविड-19 की महामारी ने सम्पूर्ण विश् को गंभीर विपदा में डाल दिया है। इस वैश्विक महामारी के विरूद्ध संघर्ष में राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना के स्वयं सेवकों ने क्वारंटीन के दौरान लोगों तक खाद्य सामग्री एवं अन् उपयोगी वस्तुएं पहुंचाने में योगदान दिया है। इन युवाओं ने कोविड-19 के कारणों और उसकी रोकथाम के संबंध में जानकारी का प्रचार-प्रसार करने में सरकार एवं गैर-सरकारी संगठनों को अनेक प्रकार से सहायता प्रदान की है।"


On the occasion, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju appreciated the NSS volunteers for rendering exceptional services during the challenging times of COVID-19.


"चुनौतीपूर्ण समय में राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना के हमारे स्वयं सेवकों ने महामारी की रोकथाम के संबंध में अनुकरणीय सेवा प्रदान की है। माननीय प्रधानमंत्री जी का आकांक्षा है कि भारत में स्वयं सेवकों के माध्यम से राष्ट्र निर्माण के कार्यों को जन-जन तक पहुंचाया जाए। उनका यह भी मानना है कि हमारे युवा स्वयं सेवकों को विभिन् प्राकृतिक आपदाओं से निपटने के लिए प्रशिक्षण किया जाए।"


Department of Youth Affairs confers the National Service Scheme Award every year to recognize and reward outstanding contributions towards voluntary community service.


NSS is a Central Sector Scheme which was launched in the year 1969 with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of the young student through voluntary community service. The ideological orientation of the NSS is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. The NSS volunteers work on issues of social relevance, which keep evolving in response to the needs of the community, through regular and special camping activities. Such issues include literacy and education, health, family welfare and nutrition, environment conservation, social service programmes, rescue and relief during calamities.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the welfare of  farmers would not have been possible without changing laws and the farm bills passed by the Parliament will be revolutionary. In an interview to a news agency, Mr. Tomar said, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) has never been part of law and wondered why Congress had not brought it into the ambit of law in the last 50 years. He asserted that MSP has always been Central Government's administrative decision and it will remain so. The Minister alleged that Opposition parties are making issue as they do not have anything to criticize the government. He added that the Centre has declared MSP for Kharif and Rabi crops and as soon as Kharif crop is harvested, the government procurement will begin. The Minister said, the new farm bills give freedom to farmers to sell their produce outside APMC Mandis at prices they deem fit without the taxes levied there. Earlier, farmers had to bring produce to Mandis where 25 to 30 licensed traders hold auction and then farmers were forced to sell at whatever price is fixed.


"ये ऐप उसे मंडी के बाहर भी अपनी मर्जी के मुताबिक भाव में अपना उत्पादन बेचने की स्वतंत्रता प्रदान करता है। एपीएमसी मंडियों में टैक् लगता है। हमारा जो विधेयक है इसके माध्यम से एपीएमसी प्राइमाइसिस के बाहर जो किसान पेड करेगा, उस पर तो राज् का टैक् लगेगा और केन्द्र का टैक् लगेगा।"


The Minister also said that the legislations will give price guarantee to farmers at time of sowing and selling agreements will only deal with the produce and there can be no mention of farmland.


Earlier, Parliament passed the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion & Facilitation) Bill and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill. However, Opposition parties are questioning the legislations.

The Union Cabinet has condoled the sad demise of Minister of State for Railways Suresh C. Angadi. The Cabinet observed silence for two minutes in memory of  Suresh Angadi. The Cabinet also passed a resolution in which it said that in his passing away, the nation has lost an eminent leader, an educationist, a distinguished Parliamentarian and an able administrator.


The Cabinet also extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the government and the entire nation.


The Karnataka State Government has also announced day-long mourning on the demise of Union Minister of State for Railways and Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa has portrayed Suresh Angadi as a gentleman politician who had a popular mandate in Belagavi. He recalled his contribution in improving railway network in the state and speeding up pending projects. The State Industries Minister Jagadish Shetter, Transport Minister Lakshman Savadi, Water Resources Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi are among those who are in Delhi to pay their homage to the departed leader.

In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today deposited an interest-free loan amount of 10 thousand rupees each in the accounts of around 10 thousand rural street vendors at a function organized in Bhopal. He also held discussions with rural street vendors through video conferencing. Loan distribution programmes for rural street vendors have been also organized today in other districts of the state. The Mukhymantri street vendor scheme has been made for the street vendors residing in the villages and towns of Madhya Pradesh on the lines of the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana launched for urban street vendors by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under the Mukhyamantri Street vendor Scheme, working capital of up to 10 thousand rupees will be provided by the bank without any guarantee and interest for small businessmen between 18 and 55 years of age. This loan will have to be repaid within a year. On payment of loan on time, interest free loans of up to 20 thousand rupees will be available under the scheme for business next year. In Maharashtra, the relief and rescue operations of the Bhiwandi building collapse which is continuing from last more than 72 hours is in the final leg and will be over this afternoon. Bhiwandi- Nizampur Municipal Corporation Public Relations Officer Milind Palsule today told AIR News that heavy rainfall yesterday delayed the relief and rescue operation work. Mr Palsule said, the death toll now stands at 38. He said, earlier the death toll was reported to be 40 as two names got repeated in the list erroneously. PRO said, the total number of injured stands at 25.


The building, located at Narpoli's Patel Compound near Dhamankar Naka in Thane district’s Bhiwandi town collapsed on 21st of September early morning while the residents were asleep.

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a Central Reserve Police Force Jawan martyred in terrorists attack on the Road Opening Party of CRPF in Keisarmulla area of Chadoora in Central Kashmir's Budgam district today. His rifle and one magazine with 30 rounds were snatched by the terrorists from the spot.


In yet another incident today, one terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Maghama area of Tral in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. The identity of the slain terrorist is being ascertained. Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the encounter site. Further details are awaited.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has criticized the Opposition MPs for boycotting the Monsoon Session after their protest after the passage of two farm bills.


"विपक्षी दलों का राजनीति दिशाहीन हो गई है, क्योंकि जब उनका अधिकार था संसद में बैठने का बोलने का, अपनी राय जताने का, तो वो अधिकार उन्होंने छोड़ दिया, वॉकआउट किया और बाहर जाकर धरना प्रदर्शन कर रहे है। राष्ट्रपति जी को मिल रहे है उसके लिए तो तीन सौ दिन है, जो 70-80 दिन चलती है पार्लियामेंट, वो पार्लियामेंट में बोलने के लिए है। इतने महत्वपूर्ण किसान विधेयक हुआ, उसमें चर्चा भी हुई, जिस तरह से विपक्ष पेश आया, वो शर्मसार कर दिया उन्होंने राज्यसभा को।"


On the farm bills, he clarified that the Minimum Support Price of the food grains is not going to end and the Agricultural Produce Market Committees will function. The Minister also criticized the Opposition for not attending the house during the discussions on the labour codes bills passed yesterday.

Union Government today said that the country's recovery rate among the COVID-19 patients has reached 81.55 per cent. More than 87 thousand COVID patients recovered during the last 24 hours. Health Ministry said, the total number of recoveries has reached over 46 lakh 74 thousand. The constantly increasing recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country is reduced and currently comprises only 16.86 per cent of the total positive cases.


India's COVID-19 tally has crossed 57 lakh with 86 thousand 508 new infections being reported in a day. Presently, the total number of active cases in the country is nine lakh 66 thousand. The Ministry said, effective implementation of Centre's strategic and graded Test-Track and Treat approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the limit of using the State Disaster Response Fund for COVID specific infrastructure has been increased from 35 per cent to 50 per cent. He said, the decision will help States have more finances at their disposal to fight the virus. Interacting with Chief Ministers of six states and one Union Territory through video conference, Mr Modi said, there is a need to further strengthen health infrastructure to tackle COVID. These States and UTs are Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. He reviewed the status and preparedness of COVID response and management. More than 63 per cent of the active cases of the country are concentrated in these six States and a Union Territory.

In Himachal Pradesh, 11 more COVID-19 patients died during last 24 hours taking the death toll to 141, while 341 fresh cases took the state tally to 13,110. These deaths were reported from Mandi,  Kangra and Solan district. A total of 782 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries in the state stands at 9,173. Currently, there are 3,771 active cases are being treated in the state.

In Rajasthan, the recovery rate of the Corona patients has reached 83.12 per cent in the state. A report :-


After Jaipur and Jodhpur, Alwar has become the third such district, where the total number of Corona-infected people has crossed 10 thousand mark. The total figure of Corona patients in Jaipur has reached 18 thousand 620. At the same time, 17 thousand 917 people have been infected in Jodhpur. Pratapgarh, Sawaimadhopur, Dausa, Hanumangarh, Karauli and Jaisalmer are the districts where the total number of infected people is still below one thousand. Barmer topped the recovery rate, where more than 95 per cent patients have been recovered. Bundi and Sirohi districts also have very good recovery rate. Hanumangarh, Bundi, Jhunjhunu, Pratapgarh and Dausa are the districts where the death toll due to Corona is in the single digit. Jitendra Dwivedi, All India Radio, Jaipur.

Arunachal Pradesh reported its sharpest single-day spike of 289 COVID-19 cases yesterday, taking the state’s total caseload to 8,133. Out of the fresh cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 173 cases.

Odisha today reported 4,340 Corona positive cases, taking the total caseload of the state to 1,96,888. Similarly, the state also reported 4,052 recovered cases, pushing the total recovery to 1,57,265. More in this report :-


Given the current trend in covid-19 positivity,  the state's total casecount is just a day away from hitting the two lakh mark.  Of course, the reciprocal recovery as against the incremental infection, with the cumulative cured cases about to touch 1.6 lakh soon, provides the much needed cushion for the covid-19 fight in the state.  Meanwhile the state reported a record 16 death today, which follows the previous all-day-high of 15 death, just a day before Girish Chandra Dash, Bhubaneswar

In view of rising COVID cases in Maharashtra and especially in Mumbai city, the Central Railway has increased its local services to maintain sufficient distance between commuters while travelling. More from our correspondent :-


Since the time when Mumbai locals resumed their service in the month of June last, very select people who are identified by the state govt as essential service staff have been allowed to travel in the train. However, the directives for identifying essential service provider staff have been eased from time to time with the number of the people eligible to travel in the local trains increasing. In view of the increasing commuters and the threat of rising cases of Corona pandemic, the railways have increased their daily services so that the prescribed norm for maintaining the social distance is maintained while travelling. Recently the Western Railway had also increased its daily local services from 350 to 500 for the same reason. The govt has issued strict directives to be followed while travelling which includes wearing masks and maintaining sufficient social distance. The state government has also issued strict notice that nobody else is allowed to travel in local trains except essential categories staff as notified by the govt authorities. Union Government has said that more than 15 lakh loan applications have been received so far under the PM Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in a statement said, out of these, more than 5.5 lakh loans have been sanctioned and about two lakh loans disbursed.  The Ministry is implementing the PM SVANidhi Scheme to facilitate collateral-free working capital loan to 50 lakh street vendors to restart their businesses post-COVID-19 lockdowns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India and Sri Lanka must explore ways to further enhance their cooperation in post-COVID era. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, he is looking forward to jointly reviewing our bilateral relations comprehensively.


Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said, he is looking forward to interact with Prime Minister Modi at the virtual summit scheduled for Saturday.

In Maharashtra, fashion designer Simone Khambata reached the Narcotics Control Bureau guest house in Mumbai today to appear before the agency in Bollwood’s drug nexus probe case following actor Sushant Singh’s suicide. Khambata's name cropped up in the questioning of some persons during the NCB probe into the matter. The NCB yesterday summoned actors Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh, among others, for questioning.

Chennai will have partly cloudy sky. The temperature is likely to hover between 26 and 35 degrees Celsius.


On to the North, in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature was 23 degrees Celsius in Jammu while the maximum will be around 37 degrees. The city is likely to have mainly clear sky.


In Srinagar, the minimum temperature was  9 degrees Celsius while the maximum will be around 30 degrees. The city will have mainly clear sky.


In Gilgit, the temperature is likely to hover between 11 and 34 degrees Celsius. It will have mainly clear sky becoming partly cloudy towards afternoon or evening.
