The Centre has banned the separatist leader Yasin Malik - led Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) under anti-terror law. Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba said this in New Delhi today. Briefing the media after the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security, Gauba said, the government has declared the organisation as an unlawful association under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

"This is in accordance with the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism which is being followed by the Central government. Government is committed to relentlessly pursuing the policy of curbing the activities of the secessionist organizations which area threat to unity and integrity of the country. The National Investigation Agency and the Enforcement Directorate are taking strong action against these organizations."

He said, JKLF has spearheaded the separatist ideology in the valley and it has been at the forefront of separatist activities and violence since 1988.

Mr Gauba said, a large number of secessionist leaders were being provided security by the state and the matter has been reviewed. He said, after the review, security of many such persons has been withdrawn and this process of review will continue further.


A Delhi court today sent Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Sajjad Khan, a close aide of Pulwama attack mastermind Muddasir to NIA custody till March 29. The National Investigation Agency, NIA had sought his custody for 10 days from Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Syal. 27 year old Sajjad Khan, a resident of Pulwama was arrested near the Lajpat Rai market in Red Fort area late last night.

Police said, Mudassir had tasked Sajjad with establishing a sleeper cell in Delhi. Mudassir was killed in an encounter on 11th March.


In Bihar, seat sharing among allies of Grand Alliance, comprising RJD, Congress, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP), Hindustani Awami Morcha (HAM) and Vikasheel Insaan Party(VIP) was declared today. RJD spokesperson Manoj Kumar Jha made the announcement at a joint press conference in Patna.

"RJD will contest on 20 seats and Congress on nine. Upendra Kuswaha led RLSP will contest on five seats. Jitan Ram Manjhi led Hindustani Awami Morcha and Mukesh Sahni-led Vikasheel Insaan Party will contest three seats each. Sharad Yadav and one candidate of CPI (ML) will contest this election on RJD symbol. Candidates for the first phase of elections were also announced today. Hindustani Awam Morcha Candidates Jitan Ram Manjhi will  contest from Gaya and Upendra Prasad from Aurangabad. Vibha Devi of RJD will contest from Nawada and Bhudeo Chaudhary of RLSP from Jamui. In Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party has announced the first list of 11 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Most seats on which the candidature has been announced are going to polls in the first and second phase. BSP is contesting 38 of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in alliance with Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal.

"The list issued by party office in Lucknow includes JDS leader and turncoat Kunwar Danish Ali from Amroha. Ali, who was general secretary of the Janata Dal-Secular, quit the party and joined the Bahujan Samaj Party only last week. The BSP also declared Haji Fazulrahman its nominee from Saharanpur, Malook Nagar from Bijnore and Girish Chandra from Nagina reserve seat. Hazi Mohammad Yakoob has been fielded from Meerut. Meanwhile Samajwadi Party has changed the candidate of Ghaziabad seat. Earlier Sunendra Kumar alias Munni Sharma was party nominee for the seat but now Suresh Bansal will fight from this seat on party symbol.Sushil Chandra Tiwari, AIR News, Lucknow"


Ruling BJP's ally in Maharashtra, Shivsena today released its first list of 21 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. According to party sources, Shiv Sena is going to contest 23 seats in this election. Almost all the sitting MPs of the party have been given the ticket. The only changes have been the Osmanabad and Hingoli constituencies. Omraje Nimbalkar replaces Ravi Gaikwad at Osmanabad and Hemant Patil will contest from Hingoli replacing Subhash Wankhede. Gajanan Kirtikar will contest from North West Mumbai and Rahul Shewale from South Central Mumbai, while Arvind Sawant will contest from South Mumbai. Dr. Shrikant Shinde is contesting from Kalyan and Rajan Vichare from Thane. BJP released a list of 16 candidates from Maharashtra yesterday. Congress and NCP had released their lists earlier.


Minister of State in PMO & sitting MP from Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary Constituency, Dr. Jitendra Singh and sitting MP from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma today filed their nomination papers for the Udhampur-Doda and Jammu-Poonch Parliament seats respectively.


In Meghalaya, Vincent H Pala of Congress and Agatha K Sangma as a common candidate of Meghalaya Democratic Alliance filed their nominations today. While sitting MP Vincent filed the papers from Shillong Parliamentary seat, Agatha filed nomination for Tura Parliamentary seat.


BJP today dismissed the Congress allegations over reported payoffs to its top leaders saying the allegation is based on falsehood and misrepresentation. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Senior Party leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, Congress allegation is on the basis of a loose sheet of paper and questioned the authenticity of the diary.

"The Congress party whose many top leaders are on bail, are suffering various proceedings, has now resorted to falsehood, misrepresentation and a web of lies. और जो आज कांग्रेस पार्टी ने press conference किया है, वो एक loose sheet of paper, पर किया है। Will the Congress party now do its politics only on lies and misrepresentation, ये बड़े सवाल है।"

Earlier today, Congress accused senior BJP leader B S Yedduyurappa of paying over 1800 crore rupees to the BJP's national leaders during his tenure as Karnataka Chief Minister. Briefing media in New Delhi, party spokesman Randeep Surjewala cited a report of a magazine, stating Mr. Yedduyurappa also paid central committee, Judges and advocates.

"क्या यह सच है के झूठ? 18 सौ करोड़ रूपये की यह रिश्वत कर्नाटक की येडियुरप्पा जीकी सरकार से भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेतृत् को आई है। अगर यह सही है और अगर डायरी में कोई सच्चाई नहीं तो मोदी जी से लेकर उनके सारे भाजपा नेतृत् में इसकी जांच क्यों नहीं करवाई।"

Reacting to this Mr Yedduyurappa said Congress has planted the story in the media to gain mileage in the upcoming elections. 

"All the issues being raise by Congress, including one raise by about alleged payment of crores of rupees, has been already inquired and  found the documents are fake. IT department officials have always proved the issue, to find that the documents and signatures and handwritten notes are forged one."


The Government has exceeded the disinvestment target for the current fiscal by five thousand crore rupees. In a tweet, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said as against a disinvestment target of 80 thousand crore rupees for this fiscal, the divestment receipts have touched 85 thousand crore rupees today. 


India today said it has decided not to send any government representative to Pakistan National Day event at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi which is taking place today. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said this in reply to a media query.

"Pakistan High Commission took a decision to invite Hurriyat representatives and because of their decision, India has decided not to send any representatives to the Pakistan National Day reception. We are very clearly that any attempt by the Pakistan High Commission or by the Pakistani leadership to engage with the Hurriyat representatives will not be taken lightly."

On Pakistan's assertions over the acquittal of four accused in Samjhauta Express case, Mr Kumar said, Pakistan has complete lack of understanding how the Indian Judiciary functions. He said, the due process was followed and all witnesses were taken into account.


In Ghana, an accident involving two public transport buses claimed the lives of at least 60 people. According to Police, each bus was carrying over fifty passengers.  One of the buses caught fire after the incident, worsening the situation. The accident took place at early hours today in a town called Ampoma in the newly created Bono East region. The buses are said to have engaged in a head-on collision on the Kintampo Techiman road which is one of the important routes connecting two parts of the country. Rescue efforts are underway.


In Karnataka,  Minister for Municipalities, C S Shivalli passed away in a hospital in Hubli today. He was 58.  Shivalli was elected thrice from Kundgol constituency in Dharwad district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the demise of the Karnataka Minister.


Snapping its eight-day winning streak, the BSE benchmark Sensex tumbled around 0.6 percent as investors scrambled to book profits after the recent rally. The rupee also weakened 13 paise against the dollar.

"The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 222 points to end at 38,165. The Nifty at the National Stock also fell to settle at 11,457. The rupee appreciated 13 paise to 69 rupees and 96 paise against the US dollar. And, in global crude market, Brent prices were trading around 67 dollars per barrel in intra day trade. In Football, India has clinched the SAFF Women's Championship for the fifth time in a row, defeating hosts Nepal 3-1 in the final at Biratnagar.

"The pace of the match was intense from the very beginning as both sides pressed hard from the first whistle. India's Dalmia Chhibber scored first goal of the match in 26th minute. In 33rd minute Nepal's Sabitra Bhandari equalized the Indian lead. The second half began with India creating most of the opportunities. in 63rd minute Dangmei Grace took  Indian lead to 2-1. Anju Tamang, who replaced Sandhiya Ranganathan scored third and last goal for India in 76th minute. India's Indumathi Kathiresan and Sabitra Tamang of Nepal remained top scorer of the tournament, both scored four goals each. Raj Kumar AIR News Kathmandu."


The meeting of BJP's Central Election Committee is underway in New Delhi to discuss the names of candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chief Amit Shah, senior party leaders and Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley are among those attending the meeting.
