Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reiterated that the perpetrators of the Pulwama terrorist attack will be punished by the security forces and asked people to keep patience. He was addressing a rally at Pandharkawada in Maharashtra after launching several development projects. Mr. Modi said that the security agencies have been given free hand to deal with the perpetrators. Modi said the sacrifice of CRPF personnel will not go in vain and the terrorists will be punished no matter where they hide.

"पुलवामा में, जो कुछ भी हुआ, उसको लेकर आपके आक्रोश को मैं समझ रहा हूं। शहीदों का बलिदान व्‍यर्थ नहीं जाएगा, आतंक के सरपरस्‍तों ने जो गुनाह किया है वो चाहे जितना छिपने की कोशिश करें, उन्‍हें सज़ा जरूर दी जाएगी।

The Prime Minister asked people to trust our soldiers and said that the jawans will take a decision on the time, place and the kind of punishment to be awarded to the perpetrators. Launching a veiled attack against Pakistan without naming it, Prime Minister Modi said terrorism is the second name of the neighbouring country.  


"एक ऐसा देश जो भारत के बंटवारे के बाद अस्तित्‍व में आया, जिसके यहां आतंकवाद को पनाह दी जाती है, जो आज दीवालिया होने की कगार पर खड़ा है, वो आतंक का दूसरा नाम बन चुका है।


A two- minute silence was observed during the rally to pay homage to the martyred CRPF jawans. The Prime Minister, who had visited Yavatmal in March 2014 and had conducted the ‘chai pe charcha’ programme said, he is striving to fulfil the promises to the people day in and day out. Speaking on the Pradhan Mantri Kissan Samman Nidhi which was announced in this year’s Union Budget, the Prime Minister said that as many as 1.5 crore farmers will be benefited with the scheme in Maharashtra. The Prime Minister said, works for the welfare of different sections of society became  possible due to a stable government at the Centre. Mr Modi said,

Mr Modi reiterated the governments target of providing houses for homeless people by 2022. He said,

On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Eklavya Model Residential School of Nanded for tribal students. He also handed over the keys of houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to the beneficiaries. The Prime Minister then flagged-off 'Humsafar Express' connecting Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune Train service through video link. He also distributed certificates and cheques under the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission to women Self-Help Groups.Later in the day, Mr Modi will visit Dhule district of the state where he will lay foundation stone of three major projects including a railway line and two water schemes. Our correspondent reports, the Prime Minister will also address a public rally in Dhule.


"Prime Minister will lay foundation stone for the Manmad- Dhule-Indore railway line. Member of Parliament from Dhule and Union Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Subhash Bhamre said, the projects have been approved and will be completed in next 3-4 years. The Sulwade-Jamphal irrigation project has received an outlay of 2,460 crore Rupees from the special funds of PMO. The scheme would prove beneficial for irrigation and drinking water supply of at least 100 villages in the district. The third project, a pipeline from Akkalpada dam to Dhule city will remove the problem of supply of drinking water to Dhule city forever.  Prime Minister will also initiate various development projects for the district and later address a public rally in Dhule. The all-party meeting convened in New Delhi today in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack passed a resolution strongly condemning the dastardly act. All parties condemned terrorism in all its forms and the support being given to it from across the border. The resolution said terrorism in India is being actively encouraged by the forces across the border and India has displayed both firmness and resilience in dealing with these challenges. The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He briefed the parties about the attack and the steps being taken by the government in this regard. Briefing mediapersons later, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, all parties expressed their support to the government in its fight against terrorism. Mr Tomar said,


"प्रारंभ से ही हमारी नीति आतंकवाद के खिलाफ जीरो टोलरेंस की रही है। यह कायराना हमला आतंकवादियों की इसी हताशा को दर्शाता है। देश इस समय आतंकवाद के खिलाफ निर्णायक लड़ाई लड़ रहा है और उस लड़ाई को अंतिम परिणिति तक हम पहुंचाएंगे। हमारे जवानों का बलिदान व्‍यर्थ नहीं जाएगा।" 

Mr Tomar said, the Home Minister stated that government is committed to terror and violence free Jammu and Kashmir.Talking to media, Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, they stand with the government for unity and security of the nation and security forces.

"हम देश की एकता के लिए, अखंडता के लिए, देश की सुरक्षा के लिए, जनता की सुरक्षा के लिए हम सरकार के साथ खड़े रहेंगे, आतंकवाद को खत्‍म करने के लिए, हमारा पूरा समर्थन रहेगा।


In Uttar Pradesh, the last rites of the twelve CRPF personnel who were martyred in terror attack are being performed at their native places in various districts. More from our correspondent.


"The martyrs are being given last adieu with wet eyes  in sorrowful atmosphere at their native places  in state. Heroes  are being given final leave  with full state honour where Several ministers ,  public representatives and officials are present for last salute to the saviours of nation. Huge gathering is witnessed at crematoriums. The government has declared the connecting roads to martyr's native village will be named after their names to make them immortal. In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered district magistrates of Patna and Bhagalpur to hand over cheque of ex gratia of 11 lakh Rupees each to families of the two martyred CRPF personnel. He also announced additional 25 lakh rupees each for families of martyred jawans Sanjay Kumar Sinha and Ratan Thakur from the Chief Minister's Relief fund. The Chief Minister said, all possible help would be given to their families. Earlier the mortal remains of jawans arrived by special aircraft of Indian Air Force from Delhi.

The last rites of jawans will be performed today at their respective native villages in Patna and Bhagalpur district with full state honours.

Prasar Bharati Board has condemned the terrorist attack on CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir. In its message, the Board has  expressed solidarity with the families of the martyred soldiers. In a tweet, Prasar Bharati Chairman A Surya Prakash also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.


National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had a telephonic conversation with his US counterpart John Bolton last evening. Mr Bolton supported India's right to self-defence against cross-border terrorism. He offered all assistance to India to promptly bring the perpetrators of Pulwama terror attack to justice. Mr Doval appreciated the US support to India. They resolved to hold Pakistan to account for its obligations under UN resolutions and to remove all obstacles to designate JeM leader Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.


External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today embarked on a four-day visit to Bulgaria, Morocco and Spain. Mrs Swaraj will visit Bulgaria on the first leg of the tour where she will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the country. The External Affairs Ministry said, the two leaders will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.In Morocco, the External Affairs Minister will interact with her counterpart Nasser Bourita, and also call on King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, Saad Dine El Otmani and other dignitaries. Several MoUs are expected to be signed during the visit.


In Rajasthan, Gurjar community members today called off their agitation demanding 5 percent reservation in government jobs. Representing the state government, Tourism Minister Vishwendra Singh met Gurjar leader Kirodi Singh Bainsla with the draft of reservation criteria to be applied after which the agitation was called off.


Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that rivers are our life streams and we all have to protect them. Mr Naidu was talking to media persons after performing pooja at Sangam at Kumbh Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh today. He said it is our duty to keep rivers neat and clean.
