Both BJP and Congress have stepped up campaign for assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi addressed several rallies in the state today.
 
At an election rally at Jagdalpur, Prime Minister  said that his government is committed to the development of Chhattisgarh. Mr. Modi said  his government is working round the clock to ensure faster development of the state and believes in inclusive development.
 
"अपना पराया नहीं, मेरा तेरा नहीं, मेरी जाति, तेरी जाति भेदभाव नहीं। शहर और गांव में भेदभाव नहीं। दलित, पीडि़त, शोषित, वंचित, आदिवासी में भेदभाव नहीं। पुरूष और स्‍त्री में भेदभाव नहीं, युवा और बुजुर्ग में भेदभाव नहीं। इन भेदभाव की दीवारों को खत्‍म करके एक ही मंत्र ले करके हम चले हैं। सबका साथ, सबका विकास। "
 
Addressing an election rally in Kanker, Congress President criticized the government's demonetization move.
 
"Electioneering has reached its peak in Bastar and Rajnandgaon area of Chhattisgarh after the election meetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi. At Jagdalpur, the prime minister spoke about development and the efforts to improve the living standard of tribals in the region. Congress president Rahul Gandhi criticised the demonetization and also accused the government of working for the benefit of a handful of industrialists. Curtains will ring down on electioneering tomorrow evening  in all the 18 constituencies of Chhattisgarh, going to polls in the first phase on November 12. Vikalp Shukla, AIR News, Raipur."

Congress has released its Manifesto for Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. Congress President Rahul Gandhi released the manifesto at a press conference at Rajnandgaon this evening. Congress has promised immediate loan waiver for farmers within 10 days of formation of government, reducing electricity bills by half for domestic consumption, 35 Kilogram of rice to all families at one rupee per kilogram and pension to farmers above 60 years of age and monthly stipend to more than 10 lakh unemployed youth.

Filing of nominations ended this evening for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram. A large number of candidates from different political parties filed their nominations on the last day today in Madhya Pradesh.
 
Scrutiny of nominations will be held on Monday, while the last date of withdrawal of nominations is 14th of this month. Elections will be held in Madhya Pradesh on November 28, and the votes counted on December 11.
 
BJP and Congress have also submitted lists of their star campaigners. The Congress has included 36 names as campaigners while BJP has announced 40 names for campaign.
 
"The BJP has released a list of 40 star campaigners including Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Among the other star campaigners on the list are BJP president Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Textile Minister Smriti Irani and Hema Malini.-Sanjeev Sharma,AIR News,Bhopal."

In Mizoram, the high level team of the Election Commission held discussions regarding the current stand-off and removal of the Chief Electoral Officer S. B. Shashank, as demanded by the NGO Coordination Committee in Aizawl today. The Election Commission team, headed by Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain, held meeting with the representatives of the NGO coordination committee. They also discussed the measures for free and fair election in the state. Additional CEO Ms Lalzarmwaii told media after the meeting, that the final decision regarding transfer of CEO S. B. Shashank will be taken only by the Election Commission. Today was the last date for filing nominations in the state.
 
"208 candidates from various parties including Congress, Mizo National Front (MNF), BJP, ZPM and other parties filed nominations. Chief Minister and state Congress President Lal Thanhawla filed nominations for Champhai and Serchhip constituencies. Amongst others, BJP President J. V. Hluna, MNF President Zoramthanga, and Lalduhoma, President of the Zoram Peoples Movement party have filed their nominations. campaigning by parties has picked up across the state. Election Commission has  banned exit polls between 12th of November to 7th of December in the poll bound States of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telangana. In its notification, the Poll Panel said, conducting any exit poll and publishing or publicizing the result of exit poll by means of the print or electronic media or in any other manner will be prohibited. It said, displaying any election matter including results of opinion poll or other poll survey in any electronic media would also be prohibited during 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for conclusion of poll.

The Army today inducted new artillery guns and equipment, including K9 Vajra and M777 howitzers, at Deolali artillery centre in Nashik district of Maharashtra. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Army chief General Bipin Rawat.
 
"Besides, M777 American Ultra Light Howitzers and the K-9 Vajra, the third gun system inducted is the 'Composite Gun Towing Vehicle' for towing some of the existing guns in service with the country, while K-9 Vajra is a self-propelled artillery gun. The induction ceremony here comes ahead of establishing the first regiment- each comprising about 18 guns- of the M777s and the Vajra by around mid-next year. For procuring 145 M777s, India in November 2016 had entered into a contract with the United States under the Foreign Military Sales programme for 5,070 crore rupees. KUNAL SHINDE, AIR NEWS MUMBAI"

In Jammu & Kashmir, one Jaish-e- Muhammad terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Darganie-Gund Aripal area of Tral in Pulwama district today.
 
A gunfight raged between terrorists and the joint security forces after a Cordon and Search Operation was launched by joint forces of Army, J&K police and CRPF in Tral area in the forenoon. Police said the slain terrorist has been identified as Anwar, a Pakistani national affiliated to Jaish-e- Muhammad.

In Jammu & Kashmir, a ceasefire violation  by Pakistan has been reported along LoC in North Kashmir's Kupwara district this evening. Security sources said Pakistani forces resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdar Sector of Kupwara district. They said the Indian army is also retaliating in a befitting manner. Exchange of fire was going on till last reports came in. There was no report of any fatal or non fatal casualties or any property damage on this side so far.

New Delhi says it is examining details of the exemption granted to India by the United States regarding purchase of Iranian crude without attracting US sanctions. The United States had imposed sanctions on Iran following its exit from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, commonly known as Iran nuclear deal. In reply to a media query, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, New Delhi appreciates that the US Government has taken into account its need for energy security and understood its sensitivities on this matter.
 
"We are looking at the details of the exemption which has been given to India as far as the scheduling exetra it is important to understand that India is a mazor import of crude oil from Iran and this is  a very important for our energy security requirement we do appreciate that US has shown understanding of our position and have set in the past that the intention of imposing sanctions is not to heart India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the the swearing-in ceremony of Maldives President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 17th of this month. MEA spokesperson said, in keeping with India's neighbourhood first policy, it is looking forward to working closely work with Maldives in further deepening its partnership.

Prime Minister will also visit Singapore to attend the 13th East Asia Summit and associated meetings on 14th and 15th of this month. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said in New Delhi that Mr Modi is also expected to participate in a number of other events including a keynote address at the Singapore Fintech Summit.

India today said, it is monitoring the situation related to political development in Sri Lanka. In reply to a media query, MEA spokesperson said in New Delhi that so far the situation is unclear in that country. He hoped that democratic process will be respected in Sri Lanka.

Government today said there is no proposal to ask RBI to transfer 3.6 or 1 lakh crore rupees as speculated in the media. Talking to media, Department of Economic Affairs Secretary SC Garg said in New Delhi, lot of misinformation is going around in media and the only proposal under discussion is to fix appropriate economic capital framework of RBI. Mr Garg said, government's fiscal math is completely on track.
 
He pointed out that Fiscal Deficit in 2013-14 was 5.1 percent and Government has succeeded in bringing it down substantially from 2014-15 onwards.

The rupee, at forex market, today appreciated 50 paise to 72 rupees and 50 piase against the US dollar. In previous session, it strengthened 12 paise to close around 73 rupees against the US currency.

The Centre's Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign is aimed at checking the decline in child sex ratio and to ensure survival, protection and empowerment of the girl child.  Here is a Ground Report from our Shillong Correspondent.
 
"In Meghalaya, the campaign of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ is concentrated in Ri-Bhoi district where the sex ratio of a girl child is low compared to the opposite sex. The scheme deals not only to stop girl infanticide but to look into education and health aspects of the girl child.

(Since the launch of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme in our district, there has been a tremendous change towards bringing up girl child. It has encouraged us give us the same attention which is given to boys. I hope in the coming days, the scheme will help girl child have a better future by giving them good education and will be able to stand at par with the rest of the society.)

Indian pair of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary have won a Gold medal creating a world record in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team junior event at  the 11th Asian Airgun Championships in Kuwait.
 
Youth Olympic Games Champions Manu and Saurabh created a junior world record score of 485.4 in the finals on the concluding day today. Indian juniour teams score was well ahead of Chinese pair of Wang Xiaoyu and Hong Shuqi who scored 477.9. winning Silver medal. Another Chinese pair clinched the Bronze medal while India's second pair in the finals, Abhidnya Patil and Anmol Jain finished fourth.
 
Indian's junior shooting squad ended the championships with a tally of 11 medals, including four Gold.

In its opening match at the ICC Women's world T-20 tournament India were 60  for 3 wickets in 9 overs, against New Zealand at Guyana when reports last came in.
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat. The 10-team tournament is being played as a stand alone event for the first time between Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
