Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address, in ashort while from now a massive congregation of BJP workers at KaryakartaMahakumbh in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The programme is organised to mark thebirth anniversary of party ideologue and co-founder of Janasangh, PanditDeendayal Upadhyay. BJP President Amit Shah, State Chief Minister Shivraj SinghChouhan are also present on the occasion. The congregation, is being organisedat Jamboori Maidan in BHEL. An estimated 10 lakh BJP workers from 65,000polling booths spread across 230 assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh aretaking part in the programme.

In his welcome address, State Chief Minister ShivrajSingh Chauhan said party felt proud when Prime Minister inaugurated Jan ArogyaYojna for a healthy India. He said Prime Minister is working on making Indiaprosperous.

"माननीय प्रधानमंत्री जी का हम हृदय से स्वागत करते हैं। केवल इसलिए नहीं कि वे प्रधानमंत्री हैं बल्कि इसलिए कि हम गरीब लोगों का इलाज भी हिन्दुस्तान की धरती पर अमीरों जैसा होगा। दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी स्वास्थ् बीमा योजना के लिए अभिनन्दन किजिए प्रधानमंत्री जी का। 2022 तक कोई गरीब कच्ची छत के नीचे नहीं रहेगा। विगत वर्षों में 15 लाख से ज्यादा मकान बनाकर तैयार हुए हैं उनके आर्शीवाद से। माननीय प्रधानमंत्री जी आप 61 हजार करोड़ रूपया हर साल मध्यप्रदेश को दे रहे हैं। इसलिए स्वागत किजिए प्रधानमंत्री जी का"

Our correspondent reports that an exhibition hall named after BJP leaderand former Union Minister late Anil Madhav Dave has also been set up at therally site. The exhibition venue will showcase the journey and works of BJPstalwarts, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PM Narendra Modi and CM ShivrajSingh Chouhan. Party's ideologues - Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Shyama PrasadMukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia and Kushabhau Thakrehave been depicted as five strong pillars of the BJP.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes toPandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary. In a tweet, Mr Modiremembered the BJP ideologue and co-founder of Jan Sangh and shared a video.25th September is observed as Antyodaya Diwas every year to mark the birthanniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Here is a report from ourcorrespondent:

"Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was born in Mathura in 1916 and hewas the leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh from 1953 to 1968. Upadhyaya, aphilosopher, organiser par excellence and a leader who maintained the higheststandards of personal integrity, has been the source of ideological guidanceand moral inspiration for the BJP since its inception. He was an ardentbeliever in development of last man in the queue. Upadhyay is best rememberedfor his principle of integral humanism, which has been defined as a classless,casteless and conflict-free social order. The Supreme Court today held that all candidates will have to declare theircriminal antecedents to the Election Commission before contesting elections.The five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, saidthat citizens have a right to be informed about the antecedents of theircandidates and political parties are obligated to put all the information abouttheir candidates on their websites.

The Chief Justice, while reading out the unanimousverdict on PIL seeking to disqualify candidates contesting polls after courtframes charges against them, said Parliament must ensure that criminals mustnot come to politics. The bench, also comprising Justices R F Nariman, A MKhanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra, asked the legislature toconsider framing a law to ensure decriminalisation of politics.

The Apex court said that informed choice is the cornerstone of democracy and termed criminalisation of politics of the largestdemocracy as "unsettling". The court favoured wider publicity,through print and electronic media about the antecedents of candidatesaffiliated to political parties.

The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea seeking ban onlawmakers from practising as advocates, saying that the Bar Council of Indiarules do not prohibit them. A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud on July 9th reserved the order on the PILfiled by BJP leader and advocate Ashwini Upadhyay. The PIL sought to bar MPs,MLAs and MLCs from practising in courts during their tenure in legislaturewhich was a violation of Article 14 of the Constitution. The bench had earliertaken note of the Centre's submission that an MP or an MLA is an electedrepresentative and not a full-time employee of the Government, hence the pleawas not maintainable.

However, senior advocate Shekhar Naphade, appearing for Upadhyaytold the court that a lawmaker draws a salary from the public exchequer and asalaried employee is debarred by the Bar Council of India from practising inthe courts of law. To this, the bench replied that employment postulates amaster-servant relationship and the government of India is not the master of aMember of Parliament.

The Supreme Court today constituted a three-membercommittee headed by its former judge Justice Amitava Roy to look into theaspect of jail reforms across the country and suggest measures to deal withthem. The committee will also look into the various issues concerning womenprisoners. A bench headed by Justice M B Lokur said the panel will look intothe issues including over-crowding in prisons.

The Apex court on August 27 had reserved its order on the issue ofconstituting a committee to deal with issues pertaining to jails and suggestreforms for prisons across the country. The bench was hearing a matter relatingto inhuman conditions in 1,382 prisons across India.

The Supreme Court today extended till November 15, thedeadline for Uttar Pradesh government to submit a vision document on protectionof Taj Mahal. The Uttar Pradesh government told the apex court that it will bedifficult to declare entire Agra city as a heritage city. The top court askedthe state government to consider declaring certain portions of the areasurrounding Taj Mahal as heritage.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is chairing the Annual Review meeting with PublicSector Banks in Delhi. Matters such as credit growth, recovery, financialinclusion and overall performance are being discussed during the meeting.According to the Ministry, CMDs of 21 Public Sector Banks are attending theannual review meeting.

Health Minister J P Nadda today said that one thousand people have beenbenefited on the first day after the launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna.The scheme was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Ranchi in Jharkhandon Sunday. The scheme is the world's largest government funded healthcareprogramme targeting more than 50 crore beneficiaries. Under the scheme, overten crore families will be provided health insurance with five lakh rupees eachevery year.

Government says, Foreign Direct Investment in telecom sector has jumpedfive times in last three years from 1.3 billion US dollars to 6.2 billion USdollars. Communications minister Manoj Sinha said that through New DigitalCommunication Policy or (NDCP), telecom ministry is targetting FDI of 100billion US dollar. Speaking at a seminar in New Delhi, the minister saidgovernment is aiming to commercially introduce 5G services in the country bythe end of 2020. He said, the next generation of mobile Internet connectivity,5G would offer much faster and more reliable networks, which would form thebackbone for the emerging era of Internet of Things.

Telecom secretary Mrs Aruna Sundararajan said Indiantelecom sector, which is the second largest in the world, will work towardsgrowth oriented investment perspective.

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was launchedby Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18th February 2016. It envisages a uniformpremium of only 2 percent to be paid by farmers for Kharif crops and 1.5percent for rabi crops. Here is a ground report from our Chennai correspondenton how this scheme is benefitting the farmers in Tamil Nadu.
"In Namakkal District Prime Minister's crop insurance scheme hasbeen implemented successfully. Theagarajan a farmer who paid the crop insuranceis one of the beneficiary who was paid a compensation for the loss.

Ponnusamy is another beneficiary who was paid acompensation for his crops which were affected in 2016-17.

This year 39 thousand 129 farmers have insured 49thousand 174 acres of land for Khariff season. The crops which are insured aregreen gram, ground nut and paddy. JOY, AIR NEWS, CHENNAI."

UP Government today said that all dues of sugarcanefarmers in state will be cleared by the end of November this year. The stategovernment has come up with a policy to clear the dues of sugarcane farmers,under which it will provide soft loan to sugar factories so that they can pay thefarmers. Our correspondent has filed this report:

"After the cabinet meeting held in state capital lucknow ChiefMinister Yogi Adityanath today said that around 887 crore rupees of sugar canefarmers in state are due on government run factories and this money will besend directly in the accounts of farmers by government. He said that for therest of around 8800 crores dues which is pending on private sugar canefactories, government will provide loan on 5 percent interest to the factoriesand they have to clear all dues by 30 November on this year. This move ofgovernment will benefit around 40 lakh sugar cane farmers of state. ChiefMinister Yogi Adityanath said that government will also provide additionalsubsidy of 4.5 rupees per quintal of sugar cane to the sugar factories. SUSHILCHANDRA TIWARI, AIR NEWS, LUCKNOW."

In Himachal Pradesh, after three consecutive daysof incessant rain, the weather remains clear in most parts of the state today.However, upper reaches of the state received heavy snowfall resulting in dropin temperature in the entire hilly region. In view of clear weather the stategovt personnel along with Border Road Organisation have been deployed at a warfooting to clear the debris and snow from all major national and statehighways. Special Secretary in the Himachal Pradesh state disaster managementauthority DC Rana spoke to AIR a short while ago.

"अभी तक दो जिले काफी प्रभावित है जिसमें कुल्लू और चंबा शामिल हैं। और अभी सूचना यह है कि लाहौल स्पिति में कुछ लोग फंसे हैं कॉकसर के पास जो टनल है उसके पास 120 लोग हैं और लाहौल में मनाली-लेह मार्ग काज़ा में कुछ लोगों के फंसे होने की आशंका है। उसके लिए एयरफोर्स से रिकवेस् की गई है और एयरफोर्स के चॉपर रहे हैं और उम्मीद है कि मौसम अगर सही रहा तो कल तक काफी बचाव कार्य पूरा हो जायेगा"

At the stock markets, domestic indices were tradingdown amid mixed Asian share markets. Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange lost96 points to 36,209. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange also fell 43points to 10,924.

At the forex market, the rupee also weakened 25 paise to72 rupees and 88 paise against the US dollar, in afternoon deals.

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohliand world champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu will receive the prestigiousRajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the highest sporting award of the country. Apart froma medal and a citation, the awardee will receive a cash prize of 7.5 lakhrupees.
