Sachin-the cricket charmer draws his bat-power from Punjab

The Cricket Legend Sachin Ramesh Tandulkar whose game will become a part of the history in this month when he will play his 200th Test Match has hammered unparalled number of Centuries and Half Centuries with the bat-power from Punjab.

Specially purchased willow from England has been continuously turned into Cricket Bats for him by Jalandhar based company BAS i.e. Beat All Sports for the last little over two decades under the direct supervision and guidance of Somi Kohli.

However, Sachin's declaration to superannuate has also forced Kohli to think about his own retirement also from the family business.

In a special interview with AIR, middle aged Somi Kohli said that the whole cricket world knows that he never creates Sachin like bats for other players. "He is special and will remain so even after saying good bye to cricket", adds Kohli.

Rembering the day when he met Tendulkar for the first time at Bandra in Mumbai at a restaurant through a friend of Kohli's younger brother Rakesh, Somi says that time Sachin was just 16 years and was accompanied with Vinod Kambli. Since then their professional association, which has matured into love and faith, has turned to become family affair. Sachin has visited Kohli in Jalandhar with his wife Anjali also.

When ever Sachin wanted a cricket bat of different specifications he has turned to Kohli and found satisfaction. Kohli disclosed that recently Sachin has changed his bat's specifications and asked for a smaller bat than normally he used.

Once when Sachin was not going great guns especially during a tri-series in Mohali about 16 years ago, Somi created special gloves for him. And that special something in gloves was index finger in black colour to protect this world renowned cricketer from 'bad omen'. Since then this 'lucky charm' is continuing.

Somi in a choked voice says that although Sachin is retiring professionally but their bonding will continue for ever.
