Will extend all kind of support to visiting central teams in state: WB govt

The West Bengal Government has said that it will extend all kind of support to the visiting Central teams in the State. Giving this information in Kolkata short while ago the State Chief Secretary Mr.Rajib Sinha told that he met the members of the Central team in Kolkata twice and assured all kinds of help. 

He also informed that the team visited Carona hit areas in the State today. He reiterated that it was good if the Centre could have discussed with the State before sending the team. Mr. Sinha said that State is taking all steps for strict adherence of lockdown to fight against COVID-19.

AIR correspondent reports that Central team’s visit to assess the ground situation of Corona pandemic in West Bengal has created a major political debate in the State. The Central team led by Apurba Chandra, Additional Secretary of the Defence Ministry visited some areas in Kolkata to review the situation. The team is scheduled to visit various hotspot areas in Kolkata, Howrah, North 24 Parganas and East Midnapore Districts while another team headed by Vineet Joshi, Additional Secretary, Human Resources Development Ministry is stationed at North Bengal schedule to visit Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri Districts to take the stock of the situation. Union Home Ministry deputed two fact finding teams to West Bengal to examine the ground reality on adherence of lockdown in the State to fight against COVID-19. In fact the Home Ministry expressed serious concern over violation of lockdown norms in the State which may lead spreading of the disease. Later Chief Secretary, Rajiv Sinha met the members of the Central team in Kolkata and assured all kinds of help to them.

Meanwhile, three more Corona related deaths have been reported in the State in the last 24 hours taking the total number of death to 15. Besides 29 Corona positive cases have been reported taking the total number of positive cases to 274 so far
